A printer profile is specific to a printer, paper and ink combination. The word "printer" includes not only the hardware, but also the printer's internal RIP software that separates the three R/G/B color values into eight (C/M/Y/K/PM/PC/R/G) ink colors. If the internal software is the same, you should be able to use the other printer's profiles. However, it is very possible that Canon tweaked the RIP around the new ink colors so that the profiles cannot be interchanged.leo8088 said:...snip...This brings up a question. If we use the profiles provided for Pro9000 and use them on i9900 will the i9900, with inks formulated for Pro9000, print just like a Pro9000 does? It should. Profiles for i9900 are for the older ink. Profiles for Pro9000 are for the newer ink. If an i9900 uses newer ink that is formulated for Pro9000 and profiles from Pro9000 it should print just like a Pro9000.
Remember that you can buy a custom profile for your specific printer/ink/paper combination for only $35.
