Hi all. I have just re-set and re-filled all my carts for the Pro10s and all are fine apart from the PC. When placed in the Redsetter it just slowly blinks. Back in the printer it's not being recognised. I take it the cart is goosed!

Your valued opinion aprecated.

It's the chip.
You could try to clean the contacts with some alcohol.
Otherwise buy a new cart.

Thank you for your help, I think it's new cart time.

It happens my PRO9500 (same cart technology) doesn't recognise a cart.
By cleaning both the contacts in the printhead and on the chip with isopropanol it works again.

Well thank you for all the great advice. I cleaned all contacts amd we're back in business. It was either the cart or Redsetter contacts.

Thank's again!

In my experience, it’s usually the cart's contacts. I've owned for years a PGi-5/CLI-8 Redsetter and the contacts are shiny as new. I suppose that they're gold plated.
Instead, the flat surface of the chip contacts is more prone to oxidize because, inside the printer, the bottom of the cart may be hit occasionally by faint sprays of ink. A very shallow coat of oxide, invisible to the eye, it's enough to prevent good electrical contact.

BTW: I still have a number of CLI8/PGI-5 chips from my former printers (IP4500, Pro9000). I offered them in the buy/sell section but I expect that few of you look in there so I renew my offer, The chips are a mix of Canon OEM and third party ressetables, They would be shipped in a bubbled envelope and sent for free anywhere in the world. For more details, see my thread in the Buy/sell trade subforum.

Just another piece of useless information, the PGl-5 and CLl-8 chips work on some of the Pro 9500 and iX 7000 Canon cartridges, so that’s another incentive to grab Artur5’s offer before the dreaded Moderator gets him...
