The bottom line is that there is a hell of a lot of paper - and many other consumer items - out there that are in the distribution pipeline after changes are made in packaging or product.

As I mentioned in another thread, Amazon has the PT-101 paper available for $17.45, A3+, 10 sheets. Virtually a 50% discount if you can emotionally deal with a red box vs. a black box. I even managed to shave several more dollars by buying one box "used." It was a return, the packaging was worn, but the contents were perfect.

A huge company like Canon might well change the packaging for their online and retail sales, and then dump the old packaging through assorted channels. Pretty common business practice.
