Oops, but that's pigment ink too .. Are you playing games today ? ;)

I think the only Canon 'bottled' dye black ink is the GI-53BK. This is chromalife100, way better than the GI-590 C-M-Y inks for the first iteration of Canon megatanks.
GI-53 is the model number for West Europe. Possibly in other regions the reference is different ?

It's the GI-53 ink for the the G550/650 models , or GI-23 inks with a dye black - photo black for the G620 tank system printer , or some other numbers may apply as well in other business regions

I must be, because once is a mistake and twice is downright carelessness,:barnie

The men in white coats will be coming soon because I taught the G550/650 printers came with both pigment and dye inks, so didn’t do my homework properly. Me bad.
I would have been safer just saying Canon dye bottle inks..

That's the Epson ET-8500 with both types of inks - bottled , whereas lots of other Canon printer models come with both inks indeed - but not bottled.

If one day the men in white coats come to take you to the asylum, be sure that you’ll find me already settled there.

This morning I’ve made a complete fool of myself when I was gonna use my 3D printer to make a model in PLA.
Instead of getting the spool of black PLA I grabbed the spool of black Polycarbonate,

Next three hours were spent trying to understand why the extruder clicked and no filament came out of the nozzle. I disassembled and reassembled the hotend, replaced the nozzle, performed a cold pull.. no way, the damn extruder kept clicking.
At last I looked at the label of the spool and realized my mistake. :hit
No wonder nothing came out of the nozzle at 210C if PC needs 275C.

Dutifully slapped my face twenty times before getting the spool of PLA..

You mean MKB or PBK ... :D

Maybe @stratman has taken a vacation from this forum because he's busy setting up his new 3D printer. :hide

So what would the equivalent CL/GI megatank inkset be for the Pro 100? I am finding that Red River papers and Precision Inks are having some noticeable fading after a while. I did look at the CI-53...looks like is is a non US product, and was wanting to get a 8 bottle set of equivalent Chromalife inkset.

As mentioned above product numbers of Canon inks vary in different business regions - GI-53 inks in Europe are GI-23 inks in the U.S. Look for the megatank printer first - the G650/620 - in your country and find from there the appropriate ink numbers as consumbles.

These GI-53 inks come as photoblack - cyan - magenta - red - gray - yellow , there are no light inks - no light cyan - gray - magenta, so you cannot replace one inkset completely by the other.
