Anyone know how to install a linux driver for the Canon Pro-100 on Ubuntu or oSUSE or Debian?
If so, how?
So far, using the above listed OS's I've not been able to find any sort of driver that when installed will send a proper print stream to the network, eith0, connected printer.
As an aside, windows 7 works; but I'd rather not use that OS to print with.

I actually have Ubuntu and it the driver is pretty limited. It's nowhere near as sophisticated as Canon's driver for photo printing which is a pity.

It seems at one time Canon was interested in providing linux drivers. See this link. Why'd they change their mind?

Also from a Gutenprint article from May they state:

3) The following Canon printer models were not added, as they cannot
currently be supported, even experimentally, owing to an as-yet
unknown command format or other issues:

Canon PIXMA mini260 *1
Canon PIXMA i255
Canon PIXMA i355
Canon PIXMA iP1180
Canon PIXMA iP1188
Canon PIXMA iP1880
Canon PIXMA iP1980
Canon PIXMA iP2580
Canon PIXMA iP2680
Canon PIXMA PRO-10 *1
Canon PIXMA PRO-100 *1

*1: protocol is supported but inks used are not yet supported

You wont get any third party driver as comprehensive as Canons own and as it comes for Windows. Did you try CUPS? Thats about the best i know of for Linux and one which is kept most up to date?

Even with a much older printer, the MP610 the gutenprint driver and overall functionality is very limited. I mainly limit it to plain paper prints, and even then it still works better in Windows, especially with dealing with duplex color printing and the Linux color matching is not quite correct, either.

Thank you to everyone who replied. A special thanks to @opurora and @CakeHole . I'm trying TurboPrint currently. CUPS never seems to have all the needed functionality, IMHO.
