My Canon Pixma MP 190 indicates that the printer is "offline" despite all the connections being solid. This message is in the dialog box after I select "print". The printer driver is up to date and all the indicator lights on the printer are as they should be. This change happened suddenly - it was working fine and then an hour later, I got this "offline" message. I can't find anything in the manual to help. Any ideas? Thanks.

The problem could be in your printer, in your USB cable, in your USB hub if you use one, or in your computer. Try a different USB port on your computer. Try a different USB cable. Try a different computer. Try cycling power to your printer. Try cycling power to your computer. If none of that works, try uninstalling the printer driver, disconnecting the USB port, re-installing the printer driver and only plugging in the USB cable when it asks you to.

:) A few suggestions to try.
Changing the usb cable.
Connect to a different usb socket.
Try turning off the printer and unplug leave for 2 minutes and reconnect.
Using the printer on a different computer.. ;)

Thanks for your replies. I disconnected the printer cable from the Belkin hub (which I did before) and that seemed to make a difference. I can print! I don't know why it didn't work before when I disconnected but it may just be one of those quirky things. Thanks for your suggestions. If this happens again, I'll have a list of other things to try.
