canon pixma ip4200 print head clogged

The nozzle check looks like having a clog in the photo black to me still. Better start to look for a replacement print head while trying to diagnose and fix it. I once had an ip4200. It's a nice looking one and loved it. Worth saving it with a new print head. I replaced mine with an ip4300. The ip4300 is another work horse but frankly not a pretty looking one.

As I've mentioned in my above post, I just replaced the print head with a brand new sealed OEM QY6-0059 which lead to this problem. And now I can't even use my ip4200 since it gives me 20 alternating green-orange flashes which, according to the service manual, means that the logic board assembly is defective. It seems that the print head destroyed my printer entirely. It began with the Print Head Temperature rise error and when I woke up this morning I can't use it anymore.

Is the MP500 a good replacement for the ip4200?

Sorry, I did not read all the posts. You can try to locate a used ip4200 with no print head and see if your new print head will be able to bring an ip4200 back to life. I am about to throw out a perfect working ip6000 but without a print head. This one is not worth saving.

MP500 is about the same as ip4200. The PGI-5 and CLI-8 cartridges it uses make it a great one for refilling. It's got a same printer base as the ip4200 I think.

I had about 5 maybe 6 ip6000s back then. Somehow the print head got damages easily. The print head is probably no longer available. It was a slow printer and the photos it printed was not that good. That was probably due to Canon's older BCI-6 inks. I will give it a last effort to see if I can find a print head cheaply. It has the largest ink cartridges (BCI-6) Canon ever made.
