Canon MX850 (and similar) dimensions?

Can someone with a Canon MX850 measure the dimensions for me *with all paper trays in the closed position*?

CanonUSA says the dimensions are 20.0" x 19.0" x 10.2", but doesn't state whether that's with the trays open or closed. I need to find the absolute minimum dimensions to know if one will fit in a specific place I have.

(I get the impression that the MX850 is a superb unit, which is why I'm considering one — well, that and the fact it uses the same CLI-8 carts as my ip4300, which I already have and refill for. However, if anyone has suggestions on any other top-drawer Canon all-in-one printers, I'm all ears! I also refill the 225/226 carts for my iX6520, so I'd consider something which uses those too.)

18-3/4”from back to front edge of control board and 19-1/2”with eject tray open. Whatever you call the tray the printed page ends up on.

Thanks for doing that. Unfortunately, it won't fit my printer cabinet — the space is a shade over 17" deep, and has a door that needs to close.

Now I need to decide whether a) to dedicate some precious desk space to one, or b) look for a different model that will fit inside the cabinet.

I've owned many. Inkjets are more suited to the amount of printing I do these days.

(Once had a gigantic Lexmark color laser. Talk about noisy!)

The MP500 measures 17” inches front to back.
17-1/2”side to side
8-1/2”tall and uses CLI-8 Carts the same print head as the iP4200.

If there is a smaller multi purpose CLI-8 Canon please let me know

I've found the MP610: 17.7 (W) x 15.3 (D) x 7.4 (H) No document feeder like the MP500 has, but has a much better scanner.

@GrantCee, Even if you get one to fit into your cabinet, how in hells name can you operated it in such a confined space...

The cabinet has slide-out shelves, on nice heavy-duty ball-bearings, which bring the printer into the clear for operation.

You are not likely to get any printer which is half decent to fit and even if you did by the time the paper output tray is pulled out you would probably have to open the cabinet door anyway.

Even a bottom end Canon like the £30 IP2850 which is only about 10 inches in depth BEFORE you pull out the output tray (which is likely to be around another 6 inches) would be a tight squeeze, especially if any cables plug in the back which would mean pulling it another inch or so forward in your cabinet. A printer that cheap normally will also cost you a fortune in ink (carts often have built in print heads or similar) and the quality especially for things like the scanner (which i do not think the IP2850 even has) will be poor.

My advice to you would be visit a DIY store and spent £/$20 on 2 shelve brackets and a cheap bit of wood and make up a shelf for the wall, you will not be limited in your printer choice then by the cabinet size. Use the cabinet to store your paper, ink etc supplies instead. Refilling the printer with paper and ink will also be less of a faff rather than hunched over fiddling in a cabinet where you will be lucky to have a couple of inches of room each side and front to back.

You wont get a MP610 easily, that model is over a decade old now, personally i would not even consider buying a printer used which is that old. Even if you came across one which has been lovingly cared for (such as mine if i do say so myself) i still would not risk it. The chances of finding one is great shape on Ebay or similar would also be pot luck more than anything.
