Canon MP980 & Refills

Hello All,

After reading various posts I decided to refill my OEM carts using the well known german method and would like to ask the following please:

1) Does any one have a link to buy Grey ink used in MP980 ? ( ordered hobbicolor ink but they don't have the grey)

2) Where can I buy long needles needed for this method ?

3) Does Canon chip resetters work on this model (mp980) ?

Hi Spiderman, welcome to the forum.

I don't know about your other questions, but for number 2, I bought my syringes with 2" blunt needles from Computer Friends. Scan down to the bottom of this link:

1/ Never seen the good brand release their grey ink yet. The only place i can found is here :
http://www.printerfillingstation.com/Ink_Refills/Canon/64C.htm but i can not say anything about their quality because i never order from them. Even grey oem cart is very hard to find in my local store. I end up to order from canon site for my brother who have this printer.
Or you can try hp grey ink. I saw Milking's post that he filled all the cart on mp4200 for black and white test print with this ink and get great success. You should ask him about it. Here is his store : http://stores.shop.ebay.com/PrecisionColors__W0QQ_armrsZ1
2/the needle from hobbicolors is fine for the job. it's is 2" long. If you can get 2.5" long it is perfect. I ordered from here: http://www.howardelectronics.com/jensen/needles.html but look like you live in UK.
3/No, the present chips resetter will not work on your model or you can try and let us know..lol. It'll available for this model soon hopefully.

As I said, I do have the 2 inch needles but not 2 1/2" or 3"... I charge considerably less on postage too... $82???!!!

Can someone who refills PGI-520 and CLI-521 tell me if a 2 inch syringe works fine using the german method please ?

It's work fine for me on cl8 & pg5 cart. I think i should work for your cart. Make sure you get sharp needle to easier for you job. I like the needle's cap from Webnail store. Over here in US, i can not find it for long needle.
