Hello everybody,
found a pretty MP550 on the the garbage.
Seems to be a problem with printhead.
I tried with another one (MP620) and everything worked out very fine. At least the printer is working and printing very fine.
I try to unclog it but may be it won't work.
The printhead took a 24 hours "Pharmacist solution" bath without any succes.
does anybody has an idea how to resolve that problem?
I try another 24 hours in a Ajax (Windex) solution.
Let's see what's happening...

Hi,

please take a look here B200 error code mp620

iP3600, MP540, MP550, MP560, MP620, MX860, MX870 and "MG5100 series" have same printhead type - QY6-0073.

10 x "Alarm LED" alternated with 10 x "Power LED" it is LED code for Error B200.

Get a new printhead and install it.

Hi,

installing a new (or just used) printhead in printer which is already B200 affected is very risky! New printhead may be permanently damaged!

First, use pin masking method to determine which HV lines are affected with B200. Because some motherboards cannot print even, if brand new printhead is installed and B200 error is cleared.

A new print head might bring the printer back to life, but when a Canon print head fails electronically there is a risk that it damages the logic board in the printer. The damaged logic board can damage a new print head, so replacing the print head is a gamble and sadly I cannot tell the odds for success. Canon print heads have become expensive, the cost of the print head often exceeds that of a new printer, so is it worth the gamble? You decide.

No amount of cleaning can save a print head that has been damaged electronically.

Why?

Why don't try pin masking method? There is 60% chance, that PGBK is operating correctly - printer may act as B&W copier, perhaps someone would be interested. Ready-made 3-rd party ink tank cost 1$, no need to replace colors if CLI HV lines are sealed with duct tape.

Make it in order to learn something new if You want to resurrect printers :)
