Trying to fix a friends MP510 multifunctional printer
It is claiming the magenta cartridge isn't working.
However if put this cartridge into another colour (i know shouldn't do this!) it recognises it OK.
Printer has had this fault before and Canon sorted out under warranty. Now it is out of warranty.
Printer is running on non OEM cartridges with chips swapped over.
It is possible chip is blown but I am not convinced as it works OK for a different colour.
Anyone know how to reset this printer or get past the U043 error screen
tempted to junk the unit but seems a waste. Can get a new one off Ebay again for 30 so not worth spending a lot of time on.
Could just be a loose cable but can't see how to get in to printer
