After cleaning the Printer Head and installed new black cartridge, printer will not print. Getting Error 5207.
Canon could not help, but offer to upgrade me to a new printer. ($$$).
I love this printer, and really need to fix it. What can I do. Any Help will be appreciated.

After cleaning the Printer Head
What does this mean? What did you do.? Be specific.

Was there a problem that led you to clean the print head? Be specific.

Are you using OEM Canon cartridges or aftermarket cartridges? Do you refill?

Please tell us all you have done to resolve this issue.

Your User Manual does not give much info on Error 5207. It does make one recommendation to try:

https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/ErrorCode/MB2300 series/EN/ERR/5207.html?ref=5207

Canon's forum recommended to try a couple things and have videos to watch:

https://community.usa.canon.com/t5/Office-Printers/Support-Code-5207/m-p/318084

Googling your printer and error 5207 has some discussions that it may be a paper jam (which can also mean a stuck sensor), or a dirty print head, or the software (firmware?) needs updating.

Here are some potential fixes, though not from Canon Support:

I tried all the links above, but no fix yet.
Here is what happened to the printer so far.
I started to get lines on everything I printed. I ran the cleaning thing on the printer, but that didn't help. I noticed that the Black ink was low. I changed that to Maxify 1200 cartridge. the other colors were ok, but they are not OEM series ink. I took the print head out and cleaned it . I used windex for this, then I put it back. Every time the printer goes to the print after any task I gave it I then get the Error code 5207.
Can this be fixed, or do I need another printer?

Getting Error 5207.
Most likely the cause of you trouble is the non OEM carts your using..

Try reinstalling all your original OEM carts, empty or not it doesn’t matter, this will reset the 5207 error then you can go back to using the other carts to print..

I took the print head out and cleaned it . I used windex for this,
Bad mistake to clean the print head outside the printer, the printer can usually do a much better job cleaning itself, the poor print quality you were getting is from the bad ink your using, this printer is fussy, so try the OEM Maxify bottle ink instead..

I found out, the hard way, that removing a Maxify printhead to clean it, often ends in disaster if you're not very, VERY careful on the way you proceed. Maxify printers are quite different from other Canon models.
When I replaced my first dead printhead with a new one, I decided not do, ever, more tinkering with out of the printer cleanings, as I used with my other Canons. If normal or deep clenings from the driver's menu don't fix the clogs, bad luck. I'd rather have a few missing lines on the nozzle checks than a dead printhead.
Sometimes, but not always, the way to remove resilient clogs that normal cleanings won't fix is to install a new OEM cartridge. As @The Hat implies, OEM ink acts as a sort of solvent for dried compatible ink. It all depends on how badly clogged are these nozzles If after a few days of printing with the OEM cart, the clogs don't improve, it's quite useless to remove the printhead to clean it and you risk damaging permanently the printhead.

I concur with those experiences.

Although I printed about 20000p with one printhead and 5000p with the next (in fact I bought a new printer) with 3th party ink (from octopus-office.de) it doesn't do the printer much good.
Problems started with C, afterwards Y. I replaced the ink first with large format OEM (I use for my PRO-10), but since the GI-56 refill bottles are available this is a better solution.
Recently the BK started to miss lines and I refilled from an expired PFI-701MBK I found cheap. Much better since, fingers crossed.
The M 3th party is the only one still in use (but recently needs some cleaning from time to time).

Maybe the 3th party ink degrades with age ?

The Maxify cartridge change has some tricks to dissuade inexperienced refillers.
You need a cart with functioning (not empty) chip and enough ink (there is an ink flow sensor too) when you're stuck with errors.
OEM carts have a bag, 3th party don't and that's a cause for ink flow problems too, refill the OEM's.
It is not a nasty printer to refill, but you have to follow its rules.

As with other printers, sometimes the refilled cartridge can't be recognized because the chip contacts are dirty.
I clean them with a cotton swab with isopropanol.

This confirms what @The Hat suggested.
Does this mean Canon starts to watch closer to the carts we use ?

there are many duplicate manufacturers, they just replicate the entire software and make printers like a canon.
Your first post suggested exactly the same as what was already posted earlier, and now your second post is completely garbage, because nobody copies Canon software or their printers.

We expect honesty and truth here on this forum not complete porky..:somad

Epson, Canon, HP... A "few"
Quick follow up on this... I've been asked about Maxify printers a lot more recently and one key question is about cleaning the printheads.

I've yet to lay hands on one of these machines properly so I'm stating my lack of experience up front. From what I can see the printhead design is very different from the usual Pixma IP/MP/MG style of unit so I was wondering if the manual cleaning approach I've provided as a video would be viable for these units as well or a complete "Hell No!"

Would be useful to know in case I should add a warning for Maxify units or do some more experimentation to make the guide more accessible. Thanks in advance for any suggestions...
