I found this workshop article on druckerchannel.de: http://www.druckerchannel.de/artikel.php?ID=3433&seite=1&t=anleitung_zum_wechsel_des_ink_absorbers or a Google translation: http://translate.google.dk/translat...e=1&t=anleitung_zum_wechsel_des_ink_absorbers
I noticed a very interesting thing: The procedure for entering service mode is the same as for most Canon printers, with the exception that the stop/resume button is pressed 5 times instead of 2 to enter service mode. The recommended version of the service tool is the V3200, but I think V3400 being newer will work as well. See item 7 "Step one: Reset counter" for an explanation of the service mode operation.
Another interesting thing is that Canon in this printer use both traditional absorbers and an absorber box.
I've tried searching for a parts number for the absorbers, service manual and parts catalog for this printer, but sadly without luck.
