I noticed a very interesting thing: The procedure for entering service mode is the same as for most Canon printers, with the exception that the stop/resume button is pressed 5 times instead of 2 to enter service mode. The recommended version of the service tool is the V3200, but I think V3400 being newer will work as well. See item 7 "Step one: Reset counter" for an explanation of the service mode operation.

Another interesting thing is that Canon in this printer use both traditional absorbers and an absorber box.

I've tried searching for a parts number for the absorbers, service manual and parts catalog for this printer, but sadly without luck.

Hi, do you have any details on how to access the pads/box i.e pics or diagrams.
I bought this printer assuming that the print head was easily removable as in earlier Canon models, this appears not to be the case with the mg7550. Is that correct.

You still can remove the printhead:

Just to say that on the iP7250, you need to remove the top cover entirely before you can remove the print head. To do this, turn the printer around so that the rear is facing you. Look down at the top cover and you'll see a glossy black strip to its rear. Look along the back edge of this strip and you will see two lines. These indicate the slots into which you put a screwdriver and rotate gently until that part of the strip snaps up. There are two slots, one to the left and one to the right. You'll then need to gently ease your screwdriver with same twisting motion all the way along until the strip is free from its tags. You can now lift the cover off and then the front drop-down cover. Turn the machine back so the print head is facing you. Pull the bar as indicated above to release the spring clips. Now you can rotate the print head and remove it. To avoid scratching your nice new shiny machine, before you use the screwdriver, run a piece of masking tape all the way along, then use the screwdriver as a lever against that.
