Hi folks,

I'm in a bit of quandry here as to what is causing my Magenta ink issues on the iP4200's that I'm running with CIS's so I'd like to put out a request for a small amount of ink compatible with the iP4200 so I can create a clean CIS system and rule out my ink supply as the root cause of the problems.

Ideally I'm looking for about 100ml of just plain Magenta and whilst I appreciate I could buy it from a retail source I'd prefer if someone can let me have some from a batch that they know is working and creating no problems for their setup..

Bottom line I've tried absolutely EVERYTHING else that I can think of that might be a variable in this setup and ink is the last one that hasn't been tested using ink from a different source. I'm really at a loss to explain WTF is going on but I do know that I'm about ready to throw in the towel and put my Canon printers on eBay..

So.. any help much appreciated... please PM.. ta.

Websnail,

I don't have the ink, or I would send it to you.

What I do write about is a question. What CIS are you using that gives you the trouble? You sign saying you have CIS from MIS, InkRepublic, and self-build, so I presume it must be one of these.

I too have an iP4200 and I am interested in a CIS for it, but have not identified a good one. I bought a CIS through eBay that came from HongKong, and it looks O.K. but the instructions are pretty bad, and I just haven't gotten around to trying it out.

Thanks,

Not to worry I put my thinking cap on and did some research on alternative suppliers... I have some OCP ink coming tomorrow which should help.

What I do write about is a question. What CIS are you using that gives you the trouble?
They are self built kits.. ie: they consist of standard dip reservoirs, tygon tubing and modified OEM cartridges.. Stupid thing is that my first two kits worked perfectly and gave me no trouble but anything after that has been nothing but ball ache..

I wish I could say what it was that I'd done wrong but overall I suspect it was in part caused by the oversized silicon grommets that potentially damaged the printhead. Since then variables gallore so I'm having to dial back to starting over.

I think I know the one you mean.. I have that sitting in a box but I'm loath to try it until I know exactly whether or not the ink is my primary issue here.

Just to note though, if anyone does read this and can still help I now have Image Specialists and OCP magenta inks for the iP4200, if you want to provide a small (100ml) sample of something else I'm all ears..

Right, I can now deal out the ink supply as the issue... which if I'm honest has left me feeling like I just want to give up completely but it's occured to me that I've been going about things back asswards so I'm going to start a new thread.

Anyways... ink is not the factor here..

problem of the magenta ink,
Magenta, some company uses reactive red 180, reactive red 195, reactive red 245 and so on, reactive dyes are not a reliable dye, the ink made of them, the reactive group will be hydrolyzed, after about 3 month, pH value will reduce below 6, and the dye will be exposed from the ink, and the ink are not reliability. so ink manufacturer cant choice the reactive dye or change structure of dye.

Bubble jet ink Operating instructions and Matters needing attention
Heat resistance heating the ink, and produce air bubble to jet ink. The heat resistance contact the ink directly, and heating the ink with high temperature for a long time during printing.
1,the bubble ink with a high demand for the conductivity and purified materials.
During printing, heat resistance heating the ink with high temperature (about 340 ℃), excess of salts may cause corrosion to the heat resistance and other print part, and cause ink precipitation.
We can discuss with some aspect below,
1), raw materials, dyestuff.
A, the dye being heated for a long time, construction of dye may change, solubility is reduce, aggregation of dyes, may clog the printer head. Pay attention to the Magenta ink.
B, the dyes are not purified, print for a long time will make the day to became aggregation, to clog the printer head. Pay attention the Cyan and Magenta ink.
C, high ion content, two high conductivity. Bivalent metal ions may cause multiple effects, e.g., precipitation during storage; decomposition of dyes, especially with heat. Excess of salts (e.g. sodium chloride and sulfate ) may cause corrosion and precipitation. Pay attention to the Yellow ink..
D, some reactive dyes are not a reliable dye, the ink made of them, the reactive group will be hydrolyzed, after about 3 month, pH value will below 6, and the dye will be exposed from the ink, and the ink are not reliability. Pay attention to the Magenta ink.

2), Solvent and Surface active agent
3), less or excess of biocide may cause precipitation of biocides active ingredient.
2, Lower viscosity, 1-3 cPs, high to 5cPs, in order to become air bubble.
3, Higher surface tension, to reduce bleeding, make the word sharp edge.
