Canon image CLASS MF642Cdw

Can anyone tell me if the Canon image CLASS MF642Cdw will accept generic replacement toner cartridges? It takes the 054 toner or the high yield 054H.

Looking at buying this printer today but can't find this info online.

Laser printer performance are based on the quality of your toner/drum. From my experience with MF-634CDW, I had waited about 5 years before aftermarket toner get decent quality but still not perfect. Expect 1-3 lines of screen tear or toner leak in IBT. Messy to clean up! My cartridge is 045H and the True Image brand is good so far with recent purchase but it could varies by model. It look like these brands are highly rated for this specific toner:

You will hear alot more loud clickings in comparison to OEM. I do not recommend refill with OEM. It is messy, leaky, not effective for the money/result.

In worse cast, the toner cartridge semi-explode and you get massive toner all over in the internal machine! Good luck!
