Canon i9950- 8 color spongeless CISS - question for the DIE HARD EXPERTS

Hi dear forum,

first time poster, non english native (German pro photographer), so please excuse my typos and wrong spellings-

I recently installed a spongeless CISS sytem with great success.After around 80 A3 sheets in photo quality, photo cyan now degrades.The printhead was new.So either I have a pressure problem (carts same height as printer) or CISS problem.
First question-
at the reservoir tanks- does the smaller air chamber (green makred on photo) have to be with ink or empty (as You know I get no support from the seller)? Various sources on the web show that they are either overturned and set upright again to empty this chamber, while other don´t do this.I guess this has a major influence in pressure and thus ink flow to the system.
I furthermore have the impression, that the LC chamber, when I press the valve on the cart doesn´t leak ink, meaning something is shot within the system.

I suggest to use 2 sets of original cartridges: either CLI-8 or BCI-6 and refill them. This is the best and most reliable way. CISS on Canon is almost always troublesome.

You have the classic case of where a new CISS works for a short while and then develops some problems and these problems are usually caused by an air leak in your system.

I am not surprised that the seller won’t provide you with any assistance because sooner rather than later your CISS is going to need some major adjustments, and he knows that O’ to well.

When using a CISS on your printer you have to watch it carefully from time to time to make sure it’s functioning properly, it’s just like babysitting.

But if you were to dump your CISS unit in the trash can and use two sets of OEM cartridges and refill them you’d have far better control of your own output.

Refilling your OEM Carts with good quality inks is a far better way to get the best out of the printer without having to drag all this tubing back and forth and putting the print carriage motor under excess strain while doing so.

Am I against using a CISS in Canon printers ? The answer is yes because there’re more trouble than there’re worth and are really only good for outputting thousands of text documents, but most definitely not for producing very good photos.

The i9950 is really a great printer and you’ll find it very hard to replace it, I am on my second i9950 and use only OEM carts in it which gives great quality output, I do know where your coming from because I use to run a CISS on mine too till I lost the first one..
