@Flying Scotsman You will miss K and GY, because GI-490 bottled ink is only C, M and Y.
Probably the second precaution (beside the bad UV resistance) to prevent this ink to cannibalize canon's cartridge sales..

@martin0reg, you certainly caught me with my pants down with the Canon GL dye inks, but if we’re judging apples here, we can’t compare them to oranges, the GL ink is specify designed for a CISS printer and not for a cartridge printer.
if I refill my ip8750 cartridges with the Canon GL ink that will give me the best quality and fade resistance then any 3rd party dye ink I could buy. NO..
I hope this is the case because I think this ink is reasonably priced .
The GL ink compares reasonably well with any 3rd party ink, yes, its genuine OEM ink, but it’s competing in a very low budget market and is therefore itself low budget quality also, retail price is the key to drawing customer away from 3rd party inks.

If your using a Canon printer with OEM cartridges and ink, then nothing can compare to their outstanding quality, for colour, longevity or price, Canon ink will out shine every competitor in the ink market and is the undisputed winner every time, if you can afford to use it, that is...

Thanks again for all your replies I have been using the set-up cartridges that came with my printer and as the hat said the quality is beautiful but as stated the price of replacing the cartridge is ridiculous.
I am just trying to find a good alternative and you guys are the best to ask.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I am just trying to find a good alternative
The only alternatives you've got is to suffer the OEM costs, or start to refill the OEM carts, but that takes a real investment in XL carts, a redsetter and 3rd party inks, not cheap but a better alternative in the long run...;)

@The Hat I have all the refilling equipment. I got it from octoinkjet but I was just thinking canon OEM ink would be better even if it is Gl ink ???
