Sudhaus presented the original redsetter in April 2008. Considering that no other resetter was released for 3-4 months, it is safe to consider that Sudhaus is the original designer.

Recently, according to inkjetreset, RKS-technik is being reported designing a resetter as well. Here are a few samples from chinese factories:

http://www.skycomn.com/sdp/94324/4/pl-133482.html (designed by RKS?)
http://www.equnxin.com/sdp/149103/4/pd/4758939.html (designed by RKS?)
http://www.diytrade.com/china/4/products/4699679/Canon_CLI-8_PGI-5_Resetter.html (designed by RKS?)
http://www.yuxunda.com/sdp/156849/4/pd/4580349.html (designed by RKS?)

These new resetters according to inkjetreset.com are reportedly designed from RKS and bear a suspicious resemblance to the Sudhaus resetter. This resemblance is striking on the outside, but also quite apparent on the PCB. The only practical change is an increase in voltage. Is RKS to be trusted though, considering that they have copied the Sudhaus design? I think not! Binkie has reported that he had a problem with an RKS resetter from inkjetreset. It seems that non-Sudhaus resetters, whatever their color, are not to be trusted.

I have placed my order for the ORIGINAL Sudhaus reDsetter from patronenhandel. These are the guys who designed it in the first place.
Panos,

I wish you the best of luck with your RedSetter, but I think you may be making a mistake ordering from Sudhaus rather than from Michele (assuming that you live in the US). I say this for the following reasons:

(1) You state that Sudhaus designed the RedSetter. How do you know this? I believe this may not be the case. Don't confuse the first to offer the RedSetter for sale with designing the unit. The research I did regarding Sudhaus shows that they are involved in the auto industry and the ink business. I have not seen any documentation that they developed the RedSetter design. Do you have any, as I would be interested in seeing it? On the other hand RKS clearly has the technology, resources, and facilities to develop the RedSetter (http://www.inkjetreset.com/RKS-Technik-Inventor.html. I believe that Sudhaus may have been just the first distributor of the RKS designed RedSetter. In other words, I believe that the Sudhaus RedSetter and the RKS RedSetter are probably one in the same.

(2) I was unable to find information on the Sudhaus web site regarding the warranty they offer on the RedSetter. It may be on their web site somewhere, but it's strange that it isn't prominently displayed. Do you know what it is? Hopefully, it is the same 2 years offered by RKS. If not, beware. True , they are selling the RedSetter at a better price, but that's because they are in the ink business and are trying to get you as an ink customer. Beware of the potential hidden costs (See item 3 below).

(3) If your RedSetter malfunctions, you are responsible for the postage expense of sending the unit back to Germany. Overseas postage is more expensive and much more time consuming. When my RedSetter malfunctioned, I sent it back to Michele for $1.18 and had the replacement within a week. How long will you have to wait for a replacement from Germany? You see my RKS RedSetter malfunction as a negative experience where I see it as a positive experience. I have a brand new improved unit for only $1.18 and the reassurance that the dealer stands behind the produce with excellent service. This gives me peace of mind for the next two years of my warranty.

We all have to make decisions based on our individual circumstances which vary. What's right for me may not be right for you. The fact that we have choices is a good thing, and it's important that we communicate about them. Hopefully, we'll all make the right choice for our circumstances.

This is a cross-post from another thread on this forum, my apologies but it seems to fit here as well

I've just found the GreenSetter

Hong Kong I believe.

Now original content:

I don't think it matters if the India resetter is better or not, at $550 it's simply too expensive.

And it's only $17.00, but watch out for those shipping costs! And no mention of a warranty.

Mapsy,

Can you stop with openly making publicity for you company ? Here in Europe I can get it much cheaper, even with shipping costs included to the states.

Sorry i have in any way offended you.

I agree with Pharmacist; I also think Mapsy's following comments about Sudhaus...

"The Sudhaus resetter is the old first version made by RKS," and "Sudhaus sells it as a loss leader item with their ink refill kits because they are the biggest ink retailer in Europe."
...are unfounded at best.

According to this article Sudhaus Inkjet released the first Canon chip resetter for end users. At an excellent price. Sudhaus did not hide their identity in their design.

We now read in this forum that Sudhaus did not really design this resetter, but a company called RKS did. But I can't find a single 3rd party source that can verify this claim.

Also the stories about Sudhaus goals in offering their product at a good price are again Mapsy's speculation. I can easily say that anyone selling higher than Sudhaus is actually trying to sell a product that is already being offered on a better price by its original designer.

What I have said here is exactly what I was told by RKS, I have made nothing up. I am only telling you what I have been told and I will go back to RKS and ask them for the patent information to verify this.

It is unfortunate if I have been lied to though I cannot see how that is possible since the company I get these resetters from tells me they sell them to Sudhaus. And they do not sell them to anyone else in the usa.

I look forward to seeing what research data you have on this. And when I get the patent number I will bring it here.

I am considering 2 ways of refilling the cartridges in my printer and I am unsure on which is the better way to go with an iP4200.

My first idea was to go with a RIHAC CISS and just top off the bottles as the get low, sounds like a great idea as I print quite a few CD - DVD labels (my own use only).

My second train of thought was to go through the refilling process and use a chip resetter, i have done tank refills before on both a BJC-6000 and an S520, I liked the S520 as you could fill the tanks in situ when the warning light came on.

I have read a few of the many pages in this thread and wondered if somebody would care point out the + and/or - of both ways I'd like to go.

Thanks!
