I have been going through 100's of sheets of paper trying unsucsessfully to get a decent color profile.

But in the diagnosis of my problems I have come across a strange phenomenon. Even after deleting the default printer profile from the printer driver, setting the driver to "none", printing to "plain paper" results in a somewhat normal color on either plain paper or photo paper, BUT setting to "Photo Paper Pro" (or any of the photo paper choices) results in a very yellow cast.

Any ideas about this?

This may or may not help you, but this link has a lot of good information on how the settings on your printer driver affect the printer's output (there is even some information from Canon - gasp!). Get a bottle of asperin ready, as this can be very confusing unless you are already familiar with color profiles.
