My old i960 died with the dreaded print head failure 5 blink trouble code and aggressive cleaning didn't help so I purchased an MG5320 3in1 on sale before I noticed the new MG8220 with the extra photo grey cartridge. I'm buying a new flat bed (V600 or 9000F) to replace my old Microtek E6, so the CCD scanner and 35mm film scan feature of the 8220 isn't an advantage. I may very occasionally photo print large than 4x6, but 4x6 is my standard. Color quality of the 5320 seems to be an improvement over the i960 using the standard Easy-Photoprint software. My question relates to the additional photo grey cartridge of the 8220. B&W prints of downloaded greyscale test patterns on the 5320 are clean and I can't see any color cast, even under magnification.
My camera is a Canon SX110. Color printing will be from the SX110 and scans of old 35mm and 120/220 film shot on a Rollei and an older Minolta SLR. B&W prints will be from some 35mm media and 40-60 year old 620 box camera negative scans.
Does the additional photo grey of the 8220 buy me anything ?
Thanks ....
