Hi canon pixma MG 5640 with cartridges numbers: PGI-450 for black and CLI-451 for other four colors.

Machine types on its back side Europe, can't let it read 550/551 chips ? of course all these series use same cartridges shape and figures on its location in printer.

Who does read paper chips firmware or driver on computer ? and enforce printer to accept just its own kind of chip ?

The MG5640 is for Canon region 4, Middle East and Russia. Region 4 cartridges, PGI-450 and CLI-451 are needed for this printer. The European model MG5650 needs region 5 cartridges, PGI-550 and CLI-551.

Changing the printers region in tjhe firmware will not change the region of needed cartridges. It will only lock/unlock CD printing if the printer has this capability and determine standard paper format etc.

When you print in grey scale is it use color ? what difference between grey scale and monochrome printing ? some printers added colors to grey scale ?
For note weights of setup OEM tanks (Full) is:
Cli-450: 21.22g
Pgi-451: 35.50g

I don't know if this applies to all colour printers, but many ink jet printers use both black and colours when printing B/W images even if monochrome printing is specified. Here is an interesting thread about B/W printing problems.
