Can you use carts from one printer in another, same mode- canon ip4200

The cartridges from my first ip4200 are not recognised in an identical ip4200.

Can anyone please tell me if the chips are set to only work in one printer?

If the carts work in your first ip4200 but not in the 2nd, then there is something wrong with the 2nd ip4200. What does it show? All carts are empty??
None are recognized?
