Can you recommend a paper for close-up flower photography?

I like the Canon Pro Lustre paper that came with my Canon Pro-100, but was wondering if there is another type of paper that make my close-up flower photo's look even better.
Can you recommend a type or specific brand?

I am no photographer and don’t use these speciality papers but from what I can gather, RedRiver make some of the best photo papers in the US, check them out, you can even get small sample packs..

what would you expect from a paper being even better than this Canon paper ? I'm not particularly familiar with this 'Canon paper, but the print results depend on several factors - the paper , the inks in use, color management for the monitor and printer - the use of an appropriate -icm color profile. And you may check with Photoshop in a preview whether the selected paper can reproduce the colors you expect, it may happen otherwise that colors in highly saturated areas are not differentiated anymore. Another option is the surface - glossy, satin etc which can change the impression of an image. And when you go for another paper - RedRiver and others - you should check whether the supplier has a color profile for this paper and printer for you - every paper can have a different white point, a different amount of optical brighteners, can have a different black point and a different overall gamut.

If you are using Precision Colors ink with your Pro-100 then take a look at the custom ICC printer profiles Mikling has made for specific paper combinations. These ICC printer profiles are a tremendous help to those who use his ink sets and will save you a lot of time and money!

For subtle non gloss effects on a lustre like surface my go-to papers are Red River Ultrapro satin 4.0, AND San Gabriel Semigloss Fiber if you want a baryta type sheet.

They are accurately described on their website, so no need for me to explain further.

As an added bonus Precision Colors has ICC profiles for the most popular grades custom made for their inks.

That pic was from a shoot last fall in our local botanical gardens.

Flowers are always a good and easy subject because nature handles all the visual creativity such as beauty, colour, texture, visual balance etc. The hard part is to be able to see and capture it in a pleasing context. Of course a pristine subject at its peak is essential.

Will submit it as entry for POW when I get home later tonight.

Emulator who has been MIA lately usually submits a beautiful range of bird and flower entries. Possibly he is enjoying the English spring.

I have asked my daughter's father in law, what paper he uses in his Epson 7880 and 11880 printers. He is one of the top US professionals making images of close ups of flowers, with a permanent exhibition in the Smithsonian.

My daughter's father in law used to use Epson Somerset Velvet but has now changed to Ilford Silver Museo, as the blacks , which he usually uses for the backgrounds of his flower images are deeper with the Ilford paper.
