Can the Canon MX870 be refilled without resetting the chip?

Could anyone please help me?
I have bought an ink system for my Canon MX870, but after installing it, I could not close the cover and the printer could not print. Could anyone help me with this? Please give me instruction and advice in detail please.

Its because the tubing from your new ink system is stopping the lid from closing all the way down.
If you look carefully to see where the little micro switch is located, and stick a small screw in it that will enable the proper function of your printer again.
To help you locate the micro switch, just look at the bottom of the lid for a small piece of plastic sticking out from it.
Directly below that on the printer itself you will find the switch in question.
