Can I use refilled CLI-42 cartridges to initially setup a Pro 100?

The OEM setup cartridges can be used in as many printers as you wish, just use them as normal and if you purchase another Pro 100 at a later date these same cartridges can be used in that printer too, regardless if you have refilled them many times, the new printer wont know any different..
Thanks, Hat!

This is exactly the information I was looking for! I plan to store my almost full set of "OEM set-up cartridges" in case I ever need to use them on another new Pro 100 at set-up. I am a true refiller (never use OEM ink), so this is great news (and what I expected, but have never had confirmed to my satisfaction).

Oh yes, wasn't it the Image Garden app that's been mentioned?
I do remember reading something about that now.
Most people seem to not care a whit about that app, though.

If you choose to store your carts using elastic bands to hold the orange clip on in a Ziplock bag, then elastic bands won’t deteriorate because there’re not exposed to the outside air
This will only slow deterioration, not prevent it.
Really, in the long run, the storage clips are a much more reliable and convenient solution.
Elastic most certainly will fail; it's just a matter of time.
Either drying out or getting gummy, one or the other will eventually occur.
They also wear out with repeated use, leading to weakening and breakage.

A couple of dollars once for a clip set, or a couple of dollars repeatedly for a supply
of elastics? It's a no-brainer to me.
Less environmental waste, too.

So that’s what the App was called, thank you, :hugs and your mostly right nobody I know uses the stupid App anyway..

Yes, elastic band do fade, but how long does anyone need to store their carts for anyway, the orange clips are great to use if you have some handy at the time and if you don’t then the elastic band is the best alternative.. ;)

Epson, Canon, HP... A "few"
Depending on the length of intended storage time, I would probably select to use
purpose-made storage clips instead of elastic bands.
Just for clarity... I was thinking more from the POV of what folk might have to hand rather than ideal conditions. Slight irony that I sell the clips for storage and forgot to mention them... o_O

Sure, I get it.

And yes, irony indeed.;)

All in all, the clips are simpler, quicker and far more secure than elastics.
Considering the fact that most of us here refill instead of replace,
and have one or more sets of extra carts on hand... with a set of clips
costing a very small sum, it just makes far more sense to me to use
such clips instead of keeping a pile of elastic bands at the ready.

Got them with Refill kit from Octoink.
You can buy them separately from there.
I would suspect you can get them from PC as well:
Yes, the clips can be had from Octo, PC, and they can be found from eBay sellers. They cost very little,
and are extremely convenient.
