Can I use Canon PIXMA ip4500 cartridges in a PIXMA ip4700?

I recently replaced my Canon PIXMA ip4500 with an ip4700 due to problems with the former. I have a number of spare ip4500 cartridges leftover and am wondering whether they can be used in the ip4700. They have different catalogue numbers but both printers are basically the same.

The ClI-8's and PGI-5BK are larger than the carts used in the iP4700 and use a different chip, therefore they are not usable in the iP4700.
