Maybe you should discard the magenta cartridges, but keep the chips? Flushing the cartridges might not completely remove the fungus (?) and it might regrow and soon cause problems again, even if the cartridge is refilled with new ink without fungus.

The Canon dye cartridges can all be cleaned well enough so any dye colour cartridge can be used for magenta after a thorough flushing.

I'm surprised no one suggested to try the Canon ink in the brother printer... I wouldnt be surprised to see it work since Piezo heads are somewhat forgiving.

It probably would work fine, since the thermal ink is supposed to be heated, it would probably be better in a piezo printhead.

Is there no sponge in these cartridges? A sponge would prevent to suck out all the ink.

@MP640, I must apologies for my blunders, I am so use to this website that I usually just ring and ask if they have a particular ink rather than go looking myself. (123ink.ie)

Here is the proper Magenta DYE ink this time, it’s 70% cheaper than buying the small cartridges and is well worth it, if it will stop the poor feeding problems you’re having.

Now to get the ink out of these carts, you just insert a 5 cm needle into the hole using a 60 ml syringe with 30 ml of air in it, have the carts on top and syringe below, now push a little air in first and then suck out the amount of ink as needed.

There is no sponge inside these cartridges so you can drain the cartridge completely, it’s all good OEM ink so try not to spill any of it.
