Hi
We purchased a brand new canon Pixma pro 10s from the canon store and it arrived yesterday. Followed all instructions as per what was in the box but two of the ink lights are not lighting up red. (All other 8 inks are)
The power on button is flashing constantly.
tried taking out and reinserting the ink cartridges as per the instructions and also turning off taking out power cable etc and waiting but still the same issue. The two far left ink cartridges not lighting up.
spoken to canon support team today and they said it’s a hardware issue?? I find this very odd considering it’s a brand new product. He said we’ve followed all the steps and if it’s still not working it’s a hardware problem. He said we could try replacing the ink cartridges with new ones but it’s not guarantee it will work. I need this printer working ASAP as it’s for work and there’s no more in stock until August. Just wondered if anyone has any ideas or has had this before? Thanks

I would as a last resort insert another color inside the troublesome ink slot and see if they light up. (you risk mixing colors but a print head cleaning would certainly clean everything).

If it doesn't light up, your printer is faulty

That didn’t work unfortunately...so annoying for a brand new printer

Demand a new print head, your within your perfect right to do so, yes Canon support were right, so now let them prove their worth by providing you with a replacement print head.. (Urgently)

If they are reluctant to do so, then say you’re going to pack the printer up and send it back to them and demand a total refund, including the courier costs, but first demand to speak to someone senior, I bet they won’t like that..

Hmm...

Could be the cartridges too, did you try to wipe the contacts (of the cartridge and in the printhead) clean with some alcohol (everyone has now plenty of it I suppose) ?

I'm reading similar rumours - this new A3+ printer is expected to support banner prints similar to the resp. Epson models.

Edit:

Seems there will be a successor:
If Canon release a new printer that is acceptable to us the user, and is easy to refill then it is welcomed, if not, it’s hang onto your current models tightly..

I spoke to a big wig in Canon back in 2009 and asked if they will be making a desktop banner printer, I was politely informed they already had them in bigger sizes…

P.S. I reckon these new models are to suite Canon and not us the user.. Don’t hold your breath..

..

Yep,

I found a PRO-10S nearby, but it is already at € 250 and the guy was reluctant to show a nozzle check.
Mine has just over 1000 pages and I have a spare printhead, no panic.

To continue on this question, other than the availability of printheads, the life time of these printers is limited by the waste pad counter.
Until now nobody reported a successfull reset - although service programs claiming it can be done are for sale on the internet - but this could also indicate nobody reached this limit yet.
For the PRO-100 several people reported 30.000 pages without reaching the limit.

Overinvesting in spare parts/printers doesn't make too much sense either as I experienced with my PRO-9500II.
I still have a nearly new printer, but do not use it a lot since the successor PRO-10 is much better.

If of course the next printer will be refillable some day ...
