I refill these carts for myself and 3 other friends. I reset all these carts. before I refill them. Recently one person has returned to me the magenta cartridge only, to say that her printer will not recognize it and then she gets the alarm. She has a MX870 printer. When I checked the cart in my printer which is a MX860 it too would not recognize this cart. So I tried to reset the chip again. The resetter indicated with the red light for over 5 sec. that the chip had been reset. My printer still will not recognize this cart. Today this lady brought me two more magenta carts that she said were rejected by her printer. (I gave her two more that I had refilled and reset.) I tried the returned ones, in my printer and sure enough they were rejected. One of these after I reset it again now is working in my printer. Im kinda convinced something is going on with this ladies printer. I dont think its the cartridges fault. So now Im looking for a reason that is causing this. By the way the resetter shows that this second one has been reset but is still rejected by my printer. Late this afternoon she called me to say the first one she put in is working AOK. The only thing I can think of that might cause this is that she is putting this magenta cart into the wrong slot and pulling it out and putting it in the correct slot. Could this be causing a chip failure? But doing this with 3 different carts. does not seem likely. Im thinking of going over there and pulling the print head and try and examine the contacts and maybe give them a good cleaning. I will say she has done a lot of printing with this printer over the last 2 years so maybe the printhead is worn out or ??????????
So has anyone ever had a similar problem.??
