@Flying Scotsman, Ah ha you got me on this one, because I don’t do very much photo printing, and therefore only use Lidl Sihl A4 photo paper, (It’s very good) I never buy the expensive stuff because my prints don’t warrant it... :hu

P.S. someone in the UK may know where to get the best stuff.. ;)

Thanks again for all your help

I was wondering if anyone has used First Call Inks for their compatible cartridges the reviews on them look good but was hoping for some more information.

Thanks

I see that canon USA sell original canon ink. I was wondering if you could use this to refill the cartridges of my ip8750.
They only supply four colours would my printer run ok if I only used the four.
Canon do not ship to the UK but I have a friend who lives in Florida so I would get it sent to them .
Thanks

Canon are also introducing the Pixma G series printers in Germany, so maybe you can also get the ink from Germany? Maybe Canon will introduce these printers in the rest of Europe too?

I don't know if the bottled Canon ink will be suitable for your printer. Canon might have used some chemical tricks to make the ink unsuitable for use in other printers, like the yellow ink gelling if mixed with remnants of other inks or even water.

Edit: Here is a German supplier of these inks.

The Canon ink for the G1500 CISS printers is available here for €8.50 for 70 ml but the printer itself won’t be available till later this year, German ink prices are a little bit better...

I used CLI-8 inks in my 551/550 carts with no issues so I don’t imagine the genuine OEM inks would cause any problems either, refilling these printers is far more expensive to get started than with most other Canon models, the XL carts are particularly high priced, its nearly as cheap to get a new printer.

The yello Gello never seemed to be an issue at all with any of my refilling...

Will my ip8750 work with only four ink cartridges or are there more OEM ink colours available.
Thanks

There are only pigment black and cyan, magenta and yellow dye inks available, as these are the inks used in the modified combined sponge/print head cartridges used as print heads in the G series printers. All ink cartridges must be present in your printer or it will refuse to work. All cartridges must contain ink or the print head will soon burn out.

I found out the Canon OEM bottled inks are also available in Denmark so I ordered a set for testing in PGI-550/CLI-551 refillable cartridges for use in a MG5550, and almost as intended by Canon in some of their combined sponge/print head cartridges. For four bottles of ink + postage I paid DKK 192 = € 26 = $ 28.

Can I fill the four cartridges with canon ink and use two canon original cartridges for the other two colours.
That would still be cheaper than buying original cartridges.
@PeterBJ
Could you please give me the website address in Denmark please

You can do that, but colour matching might be off. If your print head gets damaged, it will not be from the two original cartridges.

The Danish website is here. Scroll down to see the ink bottles. Strangely they have increased the price of the ink bottles from DKK 39 to DKK 59 after my order?!

See this crop from my order confirmation mail:

Moms = VAT. The second last item is postage + expedition fee, the last item is credit card fee.
