I refilled Canons with CLI carts for years... Now it's time for a new cheap printer that can be refilled. I have heard Brother is good? But then it comes to which model because I see even similar models use different carts. I'm tired of researching this and just looking for advise on a decent printer to purchase. Thanks....

@dwolf, Try a Pro 10 but wait for the mad sales on black Friday
They are the easiest cart to fill ever...

There are always great deals in the U.S. ; what are you looking for - photo printing - home office or ? And how much are you printing ? You may look for a printer with a built-in CISS like the Canon G-series printers - or Epson ET - Ecotankmodels - you just refill the tanks in the printer, but no cartridges anymore.

Just a basic home printer... nothing fancy. From what I have read from some reviewers the printers that you can fill yourself may still have a mediocre shelf life and you need to shell out $200 for one.

Earlier in the year the pro-10 came down to $99 after all rebates for a number of weeks. Beat that for the hardware you are getting.
Don't know if it will happen again. If more people purchase Canon cameras and lenses that means the dealers have to make sure they also move some printers even at a loss. Just a game of tit for tat.

dwolf: I don’t know where you are but some of the Epson workforce printers may do what you describe. See if Precision Colors or other vendors have kits for the model that interests you.
I run a 3620 and a 7210 with Precision Colors stuff.
