To those who question my printhead clogging with MIS ink, I am not the only one. Granddad will not use MIS because he has had the same problem.

As for which is the problem color, it is actually the CYAN and sometimes MAGENTA.

The BCI3e BLACK is no problem. I believe that the IP5000 uses 1-peticolor only for the BCI-6 nozzles and not the BCI-3e, I may be mistaking, but that is the way I think it works.

As for those who have had a good result with MIS, I guess why not use it, it as one of the greatest color balance of all inks.

I for one have had nothing but problems with it, therefore I will not use it.

I print about one thousand pages per month, sometimes much more, I believe that would give me a little qualification on what ink causes the greatest problem.

Also with the exception of hobbycolor and G&G, I have tried just about every ink on the market.

We should also keep in mind that all inks are not perfect for everyone or very print-job.

For example I find that one ink may give better results then another, depending on the paper and printer setting that I use. So my preference may by different than others and with good reasons. When I print panoramas I dont want natural colors, I want enriched and well saturated colors. However, if I print a photo of a stamp or a coin, I want the natural and unaltered color.

I am only warning on MIS because I was able to repeat the problem on 5 different IP5000s, and the I have had the least problems with FORMULABS, but I will admit, that I like the color balance of MIS or IMAGE SPECIALIST better.

I spoke to a Canon tech this A.M. and they indicated that the difficulty with the 1 pico liter printing from the 6e dye base cartridges is the fact that the viscosity is very fine and since one does not know what the viscosity is of G & G and other prefilled cartridges as some companies may water down their dyes to meet this requirement then it impacts of course on the colour depth that you get in your final product.
It was a different rep that I got and he was not pushing Canon Inks, simply explaining to me why there are so many variables that can cause displeasure with the Photo product. He further added the paper issue as well, and mentioned that he also has a 5000 and though a little pricey he himself uses Ilford Pearl for pics that he wants to insure the quality and look he wants. He indicated that he had tried many brands.

He also mentioned that everyone has a different eye for colours and knows what they want the final product to look like and said it is a matter of taking small samples of paper and working with scenery, family type of portraits, action shots etc. to get the feel for what look you want in the picture and you will undoubtedly see the differences by sitting the pics side by side.

But he too warned about experimenting of various prefilled cartridges and plugging the nozzle.

I thought that he gave me some good things to think about and I am still waiting to here from the local ink supplier here. He supplies the Ink and not the cartridges.

You are probably right about this. Just use a magnifier to look at a nozzle test print you can see the ink drop difference between colors. I found even dye black ink has larger ink dots.

The best ink I have ever used (looks the same as the original canon ink) was from a company called inkreloaded. I bought ink for my Canon Pixma iP4200 and it arrived very quickly and the prices are cheap for such an amazing quality ink refill kit. In fact, im about to order another few kits for my family from there. The ink doesn't make any mess like the other ink refill kits because the needle is built into the refill bottle and I have taken high quality photographs with this ink comparing it to the original canon ink and its the SAME. I LOVE IT. The website was www.inkreloaded.com if anyone's interested. The best part is they even have a lifetime quality money back guarantee darn.

Have you tried Hobbicolors ink available on eBay? Hobbicolors ink sells at less than half the price of MIS ink. I have never had a single clogging problem in my almost 3 years of use of Hobbicolors ink.
