I can't install the ArgyllCMS driver, because Windows refuses to install the ArgyllCMS driver.

Windows 10 64-bit here but I installed DisplayCal instead of ArgyllCMS. One of the cool things about DisplayCal is that it will download and install ArgyllCMS and any dependencies if needed. Also it will guide you to disable Windows 10 driver signing which is probably the thing that is causing you headaches:

@astings :

I am not yet using Windows 10 but sounds like a good tip to consider for trusted files.

Sounds like it might also be the answer to WIN 10 blocking older printer driver downloads!

I found this on the web:-

Use the following steps to disable driver signature enforcement.
  1. Click the Start menu and select Settings.
  2. Click Update and Security.
  3. Click on Recovery.
  4. Click Restart now under Advanced Startup.
  5. Click Troubleshoot.
  6. Click Advanced options.
  7. Click Startup Settings.
  8. Click on Restart.

Added later:
I am now able to use my old iP1900 printer with its original driver in WIN 10 64bit.:) Many thanks @astecno

I managed to restart with the windows button + holding the C button and forcing the installation of non-signed drivers, reboot and then it was possible to install the driver.

I don't think so. AFAIK a missing signature might block an install, but not a download.

I think we are straying off-topic, so to avoid hijacking pharmacist's thread it might be better discussing the download problems in this other W10 thread.

Just as a follow up... I found you can't install the Argyll CMS driver when you already have an official driver installed for your existing device (eg: i1Pro). I could only install the Argyll driver once I'd uninstalled and deleted the official (X-rite) driver for my i1Pro and then it would allow me to select it.

This was all while using windows with signed-driver-enforcement disabled. Might save someone some lost time...
