Does anyone here use profile prism? With mine and stratitec ink on kirkland paper I get 80.1 printer/paper/ink dynamic range. On oem canon ink and oem canon paper it's right around 85. So it's not too bad compared to oem, and only 2 patches get marked with X on the scan.

Like the old saying goes, "You pay for what you get".

Does Gimp offer something more than PhotoStudio that came free with either my printer of my camera (can't remember which)?

As far as free photo editors go I like paint.net it's missing some really powerful tools but it is easy to use and has more stuff than bundled equipment and is easier to use than gimp and the plug in packs made by some of the people are really really useful. I love the barrel distortion on it and the best feature is the easy to use plug in called shadow and highlight recovery. It can turn underexposed backlit photos into normal even good looking ones. Here's a sample I did for a guy I met who was touring the mountains but didn't have a camera, I emailed him it.

qwertydude, thanks for the tip on paint.NET and the Shadow and Highlight Recovery plug-in. I recently bought/installed Photoshop Elements 8 (had PSE5). I just installed paint.NET and the plugin and am looking forward to comparing the two.
