Any Discounted Canon OEM INK MX922[c251,c250] USA?

I just began using my new MX922. It uses Canon c251 & c250 carts. The prints I have been getting with the Canon OEM Inks on "Canon Glossy Paper" are fantastic!

On occasion I will want to use Canon OEM inks. Perhaps all the time if I can find them discounted.

Question: Any USA sellers offering significant discounts?

I have seen discounted cart postings on EBAY, but they look like folks are selling the SETUP carts, not regular ones. Offers don't state that, but the pictures show that. I assume SETUP carts are filled with less ink[correct?].

If I can't find discounted OEM carts. I might TRY non-OEM carts. Any Recommendations? [I don't expect them to be as good as OEM carts of course].

Of course if I can't find decent non-OEM carts, I have to try refilling.

Well, if you use non-OEM cartridges, you will not get OEM ink. But in any case, as I recall, Precision Colors claims that it's too much of a pain to refill the originals for that printer, so they sell replacement cartridges that they recommend for refilling. They also sell ink, of course. I can definitely recommend the seller.

As for discounts on OEM, well, they're wherever you can get them. You might occasionally get cartridges that are approaching their use-by date.

That offers is 15%. Staples updated their fine print policy for most of the coupons. Stating "Discount applies to regular-priced items only.", but if you ask them nicely to price match Amazon first. Then use the coupons, it will yield higher saving. YMMV

As always, credit card offers 1% back. Using Staples rewards, you will get 1/3/5% back also.

Honestly when these sales happens. I jump onto it.

Current price is $20 at Staples and $19 on Amazon.
Four ink is $80, with a Price match and 15% you will bring it to $65.

FYI, I leave my printer on 24/7. The auto clean cycle use much less ink then turning unit on to print a few pages.
With a full set of ink. I was about to get over 200 4x6 printout. About 35 cent per print.

Another time the family kept unplugging the printer for over 5 moths. I had 10 print for a full set of ink.....

If that cost is too high, from what I heard. Go with Precision Color, if you are just in school or printing documents that you will not keep over 3 months, then Linkyo. They are cheaper and from what I used so far. I am pretty happy with it.

Linkyo can be purchased on Amazon with 2-day Prime shipping. Also you have Amazon refund policy if you are not happy. I recommend printing 1 multi color photo out and placing it in a dark area. So you can always compare your non-oem inks.

I attached a photo of two print out and the original for you. Looking over it, the red might be one of the colors breaking down. Since I was reading around the forums that dye ink get unstable for a while. So best not to stock up too much. Linkyo produce deeper blacks (yes it will fade if place in direct sunlight for 3 months). But the HP was able to produce the white that I enjoy. I hope it helps.

I guess I will have MANY factors to consider in choosing my "standard" cartridge or ink.
Price, accuracy of output, fading and labor to refill.

I will test a couple of brands* of NON OEM carts. I will compare them with the Canon OEM carts' results.
If the non-OEM carts meet my typical non-critical print requirements I may use them for MOST output.
If they are really BAD in my eyes, I won't ever use non-oem carts.
In that case, I will need to compare OEM vs Filling special empty carts that are offered by Precision & others.

Previously I was thinking I would keep a set of OEM carts to use for "important" prints. The discussion about ink aging in the cart makes that less of a viable option. To make decisions more complicated, I have to assume the non-OEM carts will have a fading problem. I won't be able to get test results for awhile of course.

I am GUESSING that I will end up buying the special empty carts designed to be refilled and buy good ink to fill them with.
Are there any comparisons of Accuracy & Fading that compare OEM Carts and Precision type INKS [used in special refillable carts]?
* Note: I assume the term BRAND doesn't mean much when thinking about non-OEM carts because they can change the ink they use in the non-OEM cart at any time they want. Years ago I found that G&G "branded" carts were OK for most of my needs. Seems they aren't very good now[according to some posters].

In addition to non-OEM carts branded "LINKYO" are there any other "brands" worth testing?
In addition to Precision INKS which others should I test?

I'll post my results even though they won't be reliable because of small sample sizes. I''ll also post the known limitations of course.

Look like we are both on the same boat here. Great that you understand that a "Brand" can switch on you. I am not sure here, but beside me a few others on slickdeals.net was not to happy with G&G.

As stated in my other post, the "switch" to PC is pretty pricey. I heard the owner http://www.printerknowledge.com/members/mikling.1328/ place much time and effort into color matching. It stated it was his passion and an art of creating and matching the colors.

But as I stated in my other post, just trying the ink I would need a chip resetter and ink. Which runs in the $40s+. For my 251xl, I do not think it is worth the cost of just "trying it". That is why I am trying to seek samples from fellows’ members. Also if ink and everything is worth it, it is a pointless waste, since I would like the Pro-10/100 inks of them.

Honestly I would avoid all ebay seller, since their stock rotate too much. Same for most amazon 3rd party inks.

This is why when there is a decent provider. I jump and get enough ink to last me two years. Just under the warranty and shelf life. I will be checking up on the inks you chose. So post your research please!

Within the next moth I will get another Canon for a family member. This time around I'll print some stock photos to compare to non-oem. Didn't do it the first time.

I think the PC inks for your printer are all new, from a different manufacturer than he used in the past, so I don't know anything about fade resistance. In the past, I compared inks by smearing diluted ink carefully onto paper and comparing them in sunlight or intense fluorescent light (in direct contact with a fluorescent tube). Other people also have done similar tests with photo paper. Eventually I went to the trouble of making actual test prints, and I got quite consistent results on various media--virtually the same results as with the paper smears. (EDIT: Although some media allowed faster fading than others, the ranking of inks within each medium was similar.)

I have also bought extra large OEM cartridges for refilling. Nobody said it was cheap to do that, but compared to the hundreds and hundreds of dollars I have saved over OEM ink, it was very much worth it to me.

I don't know whether you will find that the tests have already been done, but I found that my results agreed with some but disagreed with others (possibly because they had a different printer and therefore had different ink formulations??). You are encouraged to do your own tests.

You need to double check, but it seems that they do carry some the German made inks. It might be a selection and not every ink. Good to contact consumer service first. But they are USA based operation. Cheaper shipping
