The needle of whatever you choose to use has to be about 050" or about 0.5mm diameter and at least a minimum of 1 inch in length. But this is a blind process it has to be blunt tipped to prevent accidental puncturing the ink bag.

Just to note I had another Pro 3880 owner ask for an appropriate part that would allow them to use your video instructions so I sent them a selection of likely options to try out. They've since sent me some feedback on the whole thing (while singing your praises!) and suggested using a plastic coated paper clip where they've straightened it out and then stripped the coating back to just over an inch in length.

In terms of the filling adapter, it seems the Female Luer to barb type of attachment worked best for them and, from what I could tell, that's what you're using in your video.

Mine has a little transverse notch in the tip so ink can exit the adapter to the side and around the poppet valve.

Good point... Should have remembered that given that it's basically just a pull-through adapter in different form. Thanks for the reminder.

I wonder if looking at your image @jtoolman and looking at the images by @websnail if they could get away with the adapter minus the little notch and instead heat up a pin and make a tiny hole near the tip of the adapter to allow the ink to flow through/exit the adapter?

That would definitely work. You could use a round needle file and cut a small notch. All you need is a bit of clearance. That's all.

The best device I have found for refilling Epson OEM carts is the German made "Octopus Qu-Fill Profi", in messing with two openings guaranteeing an easy filling of Epson carts.

It pushes down the closing valve without a problem while through the side opening the ink flows easily into the cart.
The cost is just $16,50 plus mailing costs.

In German and Danish the word "messing" means brass. The adapter is made from brass as is also seen in the English description of the adapter.
