Am I being shorted on ink?

I just noticed that the ink was sold by Precision Colors -- mikling himself. I also noticed that his prices are in ounces, NOT fluid ounces. So he's right, you do have to weigh the ink, not measure the volume. Notice also that the size of a fluid ounce varies considerably from country to country, and 1 fl. oz. of liquid does not necessarily weigh 1 oz.

EDIT: a fluid ounce is smaller in Canada than in the U.S. That's another reason for using weight.

I haven't weighed any of the ink I have received, but since it came from Mikling, I'll bet you got every bit of what you were promised. And quite frankly, even if the shipment were short, which it probably is not, Mikling is selling so cheap that it's still a heck of a deal.

My bottles are marked 4 oz, but on their website the picture of the bottles says 2 fl. oz.

P.S. Please give me some examples of liquids being bought and sold by weigh.
Examples of liquids being bought and sold as volumes are gasoline, milk, water, etc.

There is a seller that gives you IS pigment ink for $14 per 120 ml.
Most are 100ml

True, the picture does show a label with fluid ounces, but the price list shows ounces, and that's what you bought. I have three sizes of ink from Precision Colors, and they're all labeled in ounces. I suppose yours are also. I don't know for sure, but it's possible that the ink in the picture was indeed sold by volume at one time. I'm pretty sure yours was sold by weight.

I agree, it is somewhat unusual to sell liquids by weight, for the reason that Mikling noted. Nevertheless, liquids that are sold by volume are all specifically labeled by volume, namely fluid ounces, which is abbreviated "fl. oz.".

I was fooled too, but I blame the cockeyed U.S./British systems of weights and measures.

How do you know Inkjetcarts.us sells Image Specialists ink?

Looking at head to head bundles of 4 ounces per color of ink - Mikling selling 4 oz by weight and Inkjetcarts.us selling 4 oz / 120 ml as stated in their ads - it would appear that Inkjetcart.us is a significant savings over Miklings even with shipping included to my location: Injetcarts.us costs less overall and there is more volume of ink in fluid ounces and by weight as well compared to Mikling's similar offering (based on Mikling's post above about how he measures out ink for sale).

BUT, this is predicated on both vendors selling authentic Image Specialists ink. I know from experience that Mikling has excellent customer service. I have no idea about the service from Inkjetcart.us. Additionally, we know from posts on the forum that Mikling has gone the extra step of blending certain inks to improve performance . I highly doubt others are doing the same to provide an optimal inkset for their customers.

I admit I was one of the people who thought I was purchasing a volume of ink in fluid ounces, not a weighted ounce of ink. In order to prevent further misperception, maybe Mikling could add in clear language his method of measurement to the template he uses for his sales on eBay.

Regardless, I would purchase from Mikling again.

I can only speak for ink for the R1900 and most other RXXX models. Not sure what inks Ross sell of the the rest of the many, many models he supports.

Both Miking PC, and Ross Hardie IJC provide EXCELLENT customer service. I am only one day away by UPS when I order from IJC.

Mikling vacuum prefills his refillables and Ross does not.

Currently I've been pretty much sticking with Precision Colors for all my recent ink and cart needs.

Inksupply.com seems to be selling MIS ink for Canons, but it appears they use the same ink formulation for multiple printers, ie the same formulation for different cartridge models, which we've been told there are different formulations between CLI-8, CLI-221, ect.

Some pretzel-like flexibility going on amongst the vendors. Caveat Emptor!
