don’t fit the V5 or V6 heads properly
Is that the type of head on the CR-10?

Both of these listings say/show the MK9 socks fitting:
https://tiny-machines-3d.myshopify.com/products/mk10-silicone-sock
https://www.th3dstudio.com/product/...-10s-ender-2-ender-3-u10-tevo-tornado-3-pack/

Here are the ones I purchased (from the same seller): https://www.ebay.com/itm/DIY-Silico...var=462245506694&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

Once I get them in, I'll report back with pics!!

OK these ones you got must be new socks, because they are a different size to the ones I got 6 months ago, the sock size of mine were 25 x 19 x 13, so your socks should be ok to use without having to do anything to them...

This is you sock size..

Tiny Machines made a post saying "New product! Silicone socks for your CR-10. Its not a perfect fit as mk10 style heat blocks are usually taller but they fit tight around the bottom. The MK8 socks are a little too loose around the Creality heat blocks once you remove the insulation."

... and they are using the exact same one in your first pic above that says MK10

I couldn't find socks anywhere that say "MK8", but pretty sure all the MK9 socks are the same as MK8.

Either way, I got both, and will post pics of my hot-ends with them on :)

BTW, your sock definitely looks like it's for the e3d V6 block vs the MK8 or MK10.

These silicone socks don’t fit the V5 or V6 heads properly, so you’ll have to apply a little work around to hold them on, I used steel spring wire (Unravelled) to hold my sock on successfully, otherwise they have a tendency to slip off when things start to get hot...

Hence the saying "It'll blow your socks off" :hide

When I got these socks, I knew they were the wrong type, but they do fit now after my wire modification, and they are very surprisingly hard wearing too...

I like them...:)

my wire modification,

I saw another person post that they took one of the bread-bag twistie-ties and pulled off the paper and just left the wire, and used that to secure the silicone sock. Seems like a good idea!

Ah yes that will work, but with constant temperature changes and humidity I reckon that piece of wire will rust and brake, springe wire wont... ;)
