my 3 month old MP830 is now giving me the following error:

"scanner is not operating properly"

can't copy, scan, FAX, arggh......

also now when powering up, takes a long time before is ready

can still print, but need other functions

have tried power cycling it, but not sure what else to try

any ideas ?

That's easy. Talk to the factory. Surely it's guaranteed?

Canon MB5120, Pencil
can still print
My MP830 had the same loss/preservation in function.

I researched this last year. Bulbs were not sold separately and someone who did replace the bulb, cannibalized from another printer, still had no success. The entire scanner unit needed to be replaced. This also would be the easiest route per Canon authorized serviceman in my area, so who knows if just a bulb might fix your issue. :idunno
