How often does Canon change their print heads. I just bought a Canon MX892 and am wondering if I should keep the print head from the MX862 which has been working very well, or try to find someone who can use it. Searching online, including the Canon site, hasn't revealed anything to identify the print head on the MX892. Is it the practice to have new technology in a printer when they are close in vintage.

Thanks for any comments.

Regards,

Just pop in the printhead from the old printer first and see if the new printer will accept it. If it does, keep the new printhead in the sealed bag for storage. Storing old printheads in a dry state, is risky because you cannot determine that you've cleaned it perfectly and if you didn't, you risk clogging with dried up remains of the not perfect cleaning.

Are you certain it is safe to do that?
