I think the problem has nothing to do with the printhead. The chip pins make contact with 4 wires connected directly to the logic board of the printer through internal cabling, bypassing totally the printhead. Provided that both the chip and the printer contacts are clean. I believe that PeterBJ...
It might be that the part holding the cart in place ( a flexible plastic tab or similar) it's broken. If so, then you're in trouble, because the cartridge won't seat firmly against the printer contacts -> no communication between chip and printer -> error 1660.
For your sake, I hope that...
Very bad idea IMHO. The Canon Pro-200 uses dye inks. Pigments can damage permanently a printhead designed for dye inks.
That doesn't means that the printer will literally explode as soon as you put pigmented inks into the carts. You'll maybe get good prints for a while but, in all likelihood...
In the past I've purchased a couple of times HP transparency foils to use with a HP inkjet printer. We're talking around thirty years ago but I recall that the results were very good. Anyway, the foils were very expensive and I had no much use for them so I didn't purchase more.
That depends on the opacity of the ink. In all likelihood, dye ink wouldn't work at all, but maybe pigment would give an acceptable result ?. I have no black paper at hand or I'd try with my Maxify.
Covering almost all the page in black probably would be too much ink for plain paper. I've printed in the past booklet covers featuring photos with a massive amount of dark backgrounds and the results were a bit messy. Nowadays I only use for that purpose paper of 120-150gram and it's better...
Maybe printing in yellow would be an acceptable alternative ? I guess that printers with pigmented inks are better for printing over a dark background because lighter dye inks are quite transparent.
According to forum member Websnail (owner of Octoinkjet) it seems that Canon Europe decided some time ago to stop supplying printheads for the Pro series (and maybe other models too). Even dealers have trouble getting right now spares from Canon. Obviously they intend to repair the machines...
Occasionally I get this kind of contamination on the CO stripes of my Pro10s, but only when the printer has been idle for at least two weeks.
Like you, at first I suspected a leak inside the printhead, but it wasn’t so. Most likely the issue is the residual ink on the resting pads. After one or...
I recall years ago refilling my Brother mono laser with third party toner powder. By comparison, refilling ink carts seems so neat and clean.
I never owned a color laser but my guess is that the messy factor it's the same, the only difference being that with mono printers you have to refill just one cart instead of four..,:D
I can't tell you anything about printerspareparts, but there wasn't any problem getting printheads for the Pro10/100/200/300 until some time ago. Then Tasktron was 'kaput' while the printheads for these printers went out of stock ( and have been so for months ) on the websites of two reliable...
There's a possibility that the chip contacts became oxidized or stained with dried ink. It happens sometimes, specially with cartridges that have been around for a while. Have you checked those contacts visually ?. Even if they look fine, it won't harm cleaning them with alcohol.
I wouldn't bet on that. That promotion was only for Pro-100 printers sold in North America. No rebates at all in Europe or other regions. Unless all the defective printheads went to the American market and the rest of the world got the 'good ones', which is very unlikely, this theory seems...
Well, tell my brother that .. ;).
He has seen my MB5150 and, apart from not liking the size of the machine, he doesn't wants to change anything in the current location of the printer, much less to run the machine from the floor. No Maxify for him.
Very affordable, reliable and sturdy Canon A4 inkjet printer ?.
I’m afraid there’s isn’t such thing nowadays, but I wondering if some of you folks could give me some ideas.
That printer won’t be for me (I’m contented with my Maxify MB5150 ) but for my brother, whose Canon MG5750 is dying (error...
Confessing my “sins” as well. I'm still using some Pro10s-Octoinkjet inks purchased in 2018..
Also using currently Canon OEM inks extracted from large PFI carts expired 8 or 10 years ago. No issues, so far, with any of them.
Of course, those are pigment inks. Therefore maybe no fair comparison...
