It doesn't have to be a Canon, but I thought 1pl printing was necessary for photo prints. To be honest, I haven't ever printed photos on an inkjet made in the last 15 years. Work stuff is on a huge laser printer and my current home one is an ancient Epson Stylus.
If 2pl produces acceptable...
I only really need a scanner and to print a few photos every month (1pl quality preferably), but an LCD, wi-fi and duplex would be good. I seem to be limited to just 4, all at the same price of £100 - Pixma MG7750 (570/571 cartridges), MG7550 (550/551), MX925 and MX725.
I've been counting down...
Hi,
I've been a member of this site (nifty-stuff.com as was) for a few years and come close to buying a new printer on a couple of occasions - a home multi-function - but convinced myself someone would always find a way to crack the cartridge chips, so no rush.
Am I too late?
You're right that the installation software will offer a selection of languages, with English being auto detected from my operating system as PeterBJ suggested, but my query is about the language of the instructions in the LCD on the printer. I presume the first task, upon switching on the MFP...
Thanks.
I think the Amazon one is sent from Italy and it's 98, unfortunately; bit too much for what I'll use it for. If I could afford that much I'd probably go for your second link, though. Here's the other Italian supplier/importer (based in UK)...
It's the Pixma MX525 and it's the only Home MFP under 100 (about 80 to be precise) where the fax facility can auto distinguish between a fax and phone call. The only other one from the latest range that can do the same is the MX925 and that's 120.
Plenty of the MFPs seem to offer a fax...
Thanks for the reply.
Does the language selection also apply to the instructions on the 2.5" LCD? If I buy this Italian one, I fear the LCD set-up instructions for the fax and all the other functions will be in Italian and there won't be any way of changing it.
Sorry these aren't refilling questions.
I haven't ever owned a Canon, but am now looking at one of their MFPs. Annoyingly, though, it doesn't seem to be available from a UK retailer, only two Italian companies and one of them says their version is supplied with an Italian plug. I guess the...
Thanks.
I'll see if there are any older Canon fax printers in the UK, in the 50 - 80 range I was considering.
If not, it'll have to be Pixma MX435 or MX455.
I hope this isn't too newbie a request for help. I'd be grateful for any advice.
I last looked here into resetting chips on Canon cartridges about 3 years ago, but I guess everything has changed since then.
I'm in the market for cheap Canon Pixma MFP, as I primarily need the fax facility, but...
Thanks for the quick replies.
I think I made a few errors:
PG-40 and PG-50 both seem to be 'black ink' cartridges and the colour one is CL-41.
The reason reviews mention it only uses 3 inks is that the 'black' one isn't standard, but can be added, if needed. The 3 colours are as normal...
Hi,
I've just been offered an ip1200 for a few pounds and wondered if it would be advisable to snap it up, purely as an emergency printer?
The reviews don't seem too kind and it uses 3 ink colours, not even the usual 4, spread across the two cartridges.
The two ink cartridges are PG-40 and...
Thanks.
I might have to try the MP640 (which I'm sure is also expensive, here, at 130) or the 07/08 MP600R, for 130 also. The 600R does use the larger CLI-8 and PGI-5 cartridges, though.
The prices really are a joke.
Hi,
If I understand correctly, is this printer part of the 2007/2008 range?
I posted a list of what I think Canon's U.K. range of 'Home' printers are, from the 07/08 range onwards, or the MFPs, at least:
http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=30474#p30474
Although it lists only the...
Hi,
Are these available in the U.K. yet, as they don't appear to be listed on the U.K. website, either under "For Home" or "For Work".
http://www.canon.co.uk/For_Home/Product_Finder/Multifunctionals/Inkjet/index.asp
Thanks.
Hi,
Sorry if everyone always asks this.
I'm looking for a Canon MFP where, crucially, the ink cartridges can be reset. I looked in to this in late 2008 and I think it was only the MP610 that the RKS resetter worked with as well as the ip3500 and ip4500.
Canon seems to have replaced almost...
Thanks, Doug.
It looks like Canon is the way to go.
I'll spend some time trying to pick the perfect model - if it exists.
On a separate note: although they're out of my price range, are any of the Canon multi-functions any good?
Ta.
I'm in Blighty, by the way.
Hi,
I'm looking to replace my dinosaur printer (Epson Stylus Color 680/777) with something that costs in the region of 50/$100, give or take.
At the moment, I reset the chips on my cartridges using a resetter like this (http://www.cartridgesave.co.uk/jr-inkjet-refill-kits.html?id=du8BuueP) and...
