I started refilling in the late 1980's on an IBM ExecJet which was in reality a rebadged Canon BJ-330. In those old days I also brought old Epson and IBM dot matrix ribbons back to life by unwinding them into a brown paper sack and lightly misting them with WD40. Worked OK but was a bit messy. I...
I've had numerous Canon printers with rear feed. Each had excellent print registration on all types of paper and envelopes. In the store do a test print of a few sheets containing text and various boxes and symbols or whatever they have and then refeed. Registration should be nearly perfect.
If you are concerned about finding suitable third party ink for a Canon Megatank printer, don't be. The cost of genuine Canon ink bottles is really low and that eliminates any concern about ink incompatibility. Remember that there is enough ink in one bottle to equal about 30 individual...
I thought I could answer your question until I began posting this reply and read your question again. I can give a very unscientific comparison on two and then three other printers, but not CMYK vs CMYK+G. After retiring my iP4000 an MG6220 took its place. That printer uses 6 tanks - CMYK+G and...
As I was reading comments about CMY vs CMYK printer output I was thinking about the good old days of non-chipped cartridges and when Canon was bundling iP3000 printer rebates with new systems from retailers like Circuit City and selling iP4000 printers for peanuts. I had several of both types so...
You might like to check with print shops in your area. Not all may have anything that prints full color 24". Other possibilities could be small businesses, churches and non-profits. I use a Pro-100 to print small posters for the gymnastics academy my daughters own, but something larger like an...
Unfortunately you've received some erroneous information. The Epson XP-330 is an Inkjet printer, not a laser. It uses the T288-XL cartridges which you can replace individually as each cartridge is depleted. You do not have to replace the entire set if only a single cartridge(ink tank) is empty...
I wonder if the OP was running both printers simultaneously or if the print jobs were individual sessions. A lot of discussion has been about cable properties, but was the same cable used for each printer for individual sessions and on the same USB port? What other system variables could be...
No problems except for yellow cartridges. Be sure that one is thoroughly flushed of all OEM ink prior to refilling to prevent the dreaded 'yellow jello' problem.
As the others have stated Precision Colors, precisioncolors.com is the overwhelming favorite of Pro100 users here and on uglyhedgehog.com (a great photography forum site). The owner is also a major contributor on this site and is located in the Toronto area.
Except for the part about flushing and refilling the yellow cartridge your post mirrors how I go about refilling. I took the easy way out and purchased the empty yellow cartridge from Precision Colors when I ordered my refill ink kit to use with my new Pro-100. I've been a long time user of PC...
There are two online resources which are very good. The forum is comp.periphs.scanners and www.scantips.com is an outstanding website devoted to scanners.
You didn't mention where you live, but HobbiColors is very flexible and will work with you, so shipping shouldn't be an issue. Read through the various threads and you'll find that HobbiColors is one of the favorites here along with Formulabs and Image Specialists ink. Stick with one of these...
I ran into a similar problem some time ago on an iP4000 which was caused by a cartridge with a very slight leakage that allowed ink to pool at the nozzles. The extra ink deflected the ink being sprayed from the nozzles resulting in an italizied appearance on text. Vertical lines were very wavy...
Ruth, the refill hole you made must be sealed once you've finished filling the reservoir. Remember how a soda straw will hold water as long as you have one end sealed by putting your finger over the end - but the water runs out immediately if you break the seal. The ink cartridge is the same...
Sounds like you may have a stubborn clog. Since you have another printhead as a backup, there's no reason not to try flushing out the existing printhead with running tap water. I have a similar situation with an ancient BJC-3000 which is used maybe once or twice a year. The head is usually...
I've got two points to make about the above discussions.
First point is the continual confusion about MIS inks. MIS is an ink distributor, not a manufacturer. They are one of two major suppliers of Image Specialist inks in the US. The other is WeInk, LLC.
Second point is about the top of the...
This reply is more of a "me too" response. I've also been using HobbiColors UW8 ink in my iP4000. There really isn't anything significant to report other than to say the print is outstanding and the colors are quite accurate - which has always been my experience with HobbiColors ink. As usual...
All of the top feed Canon inkjets I've owned have printed stacks of up to 20 #10 envelopes without any problems. My latest envelope task (using my iP4000) was addressing over 200 wedding invitation envelopes. Every envelope came out perfect - not a single reject.
