Support Code : 1702 The ink absorber is almost full. Press the printer's Start button to continue printing. Contact the service center.
Is there a way to clear this as sending the machine of for repair will cost more than a new one ?
Thanks
Brian.
Thanks to both of you, very helpful.
PeterBJ, how do you disable ink monitoring ? Printer is a Canon MG3650S. Any Youtube or Google links ?
Cheers

When the fuel gauge on the car is low I put more petrol in and the gauge goes up.
When the PG540 ink tank is partially used I drill a small hole in the top and use a hyperdermic needle to add ink, a top up. However the supply levels on the data page do not move, the indicator steadily goes down...
Here is the latest, and it now works !
I think it was a case somewhat self-induced by ignorance. I hadn't really cottoned on to the fact that the 3650 has the print heads built into the actual ink cartridge, my last printer had the separate ink tanks and print heads. I looked at cleaning the...
Hi all, just an update to all this.
I reinstalled the printer and drivers, found printer Utility and carried out manual re-alignment 4 times, re cleaned printer heads. It is better but not perfect. Today I printed out a postage label but it failed to scan at the Post Office. Canon tell me to...
Almost there ! I found the print utility after reinstalling the printer software and was then able to do a manual alignment. It is better but not perfect. The test will be for the next postage label I do and if the Post Office can scan the QR code or not. Fingers crossed.
Thanks everyone for the...
Thanks, I have downloaded the Mac user manual and page 148 tells me to go to the "Canon IJ Printer Utility". Only problem is that this is not anywhere in the Canon application folders on my Mac so I can't even begin the process. I will have to find out how to get it.
Cheers
Brian.
Thanks Peter.
No change of cartridge, the fault just started and got worse. I will remove and reinsert the black cartridge ( it is a Canon one but I refill it with ink).
I'll see if I can get hold of a Windows OS to try the cure on that.
Cheers
Brian.
Thanks for the taking the time to help.
I have scanned in the details as requested
On the sheet with the numbers you can see the indentations on the vertical line.
Cheers
Brian.
Thanks PeterBJ, I have tried that but it has made no difference at all. I could see the strip at the back and cleaned it but there was very little dirt/ink/dust on it, it did look clean.
Any further ideas ?
Cheers
Brian.
When the MG3650S prints the vertical lines are like the castle battlements so I tried to align the printheads.
Printing out the alignment sheet and scanning it in made no difference so I read in the Canon manual that I can do a Manual Alignment.
This only seems to work with Windows OS and I use...
From what I have read, the service tool only works with Windows and we have AppleMac.
I have tried other methods from Google search but not one worked, error code was always there.
Cheers
Brian.
Thanks Stratman,
I can't get the counter to reset so machine is junk at the moment.
A replacement is the quickest and easiest option. Bin and move on.
Cheers
Brian.
Ah, yes it was the purge pads that I removed and cleaned. If I do some dismantling then can I see the felt pads and clean them and will it make a difference ?
Thanks
Brian.
Thanks The Hat, I have cleaned the ink pads, did it a little while ago when it said they were full so they are OK. I will have at look at at your other suggestions.
Cheers
Brian.
I have tried the Hard Resets found on Google/Youtube but the code 5B00 still persists.
Is there anything I can try to clear it. I do not have access to Windows, I use Applemac.
Thanks
Brian.
