Never printed from Procreate, but all apps I've used have a button in their print dialog labeled "Print Settings". That's where all the paper size, quality settings and paper source are chosen. That's the borderless option appears.
EXTREMELY helpful. Thanks a bunch. My suspicions are confirmed.
I asked Epson tech support about this and they offered me nothing. No advice, no warnings, no help.
I have an excellent matte cutter that will allow me to trim prints, so rather than bork my printer, I'll do that.
I haven't done much borderless, but I'm seeing some ink transfers from paper path to paper now. Not streaks, but fine hair-like random patterns. Usually on the trailing end of the print and found top to bottom randomly on a landscape print. Always black.
More like transfers from rollers than...
Thanks, ISF. I appreciate your knowledgeable input.
The borderless prints will all be under Velvet Fine Art conditions. According to your post, this media is what uses the most pigment black ink. : (
I'll report back.
To "The Hat": I've seen no rear surface smudging so far. A couple of...
So who do I believe? : ) Two experts, Two diametrically opposed opinions. : )
I guess I'll just print away and watch for problems.
Impressive performance from your L-805, ISF. When I got my ET 8550 my L-805 (unavailable in Canada, so imported from Taiwan) I gave to a photo friend. This...
I intend printing quite a few art cards on "letter size" (North American 8.5" X 11") These prints need to be borderless. I'm printing not thousands or hundreds, but certainly dozens. Not all at once, but over a period of weeks.
I understand that I can control the amount of image expansion...
Thread title says it all. If I do a lot of borderless printing, should I take any additional precautions?
If I run my finger over the little felt pad right after a borderless print, I can rub off some ink. Not much, but enough that it's visible.
I see no other areas in the printer that are...
Interesting that you're not seeing this behaviour. I did two firmware upgrades a few weeks apart, both prompted and executed via the printer's LCD panel. Perhaps that's the difference we're seeing.
Still delighted with this printer after over half a dozen Epsons ranging over the years from...
Did you actually attempt a print? I can still choose long sheets and create new ones in Print Settings.
It's only when you actually hit "Print" that the problem appears.
I also use the rear paper feed exclusively for photo printing.
Since a recent firmware update, my ET 8550 has changed its behaviour when printing long sheets.
I've been cutting and printing to 13X25" and 8.5 X 25" custom cut sheets without problem until recently. Now, the printer refuses to print to those sizes, invoking the following screen message...
Thanks. Borderless printing wasn't available with that custom print size but re-appeared when I chose 13X19.
Against all odds, I'll first try the same print, attempting to ignore the error message. If that fails, I'll try dropping the print quality down.
Thanks for your reply ISF.
Printing from Photoshop. Media was high quality glossy, Photoshop profile was Premium Quality Glossy, same for Epson print driver. Print quality was set to max. Media size was custom (user) set to 13X25 inches. These settings worked well for my L-805...
I attempted to print a wide image to a 13X25 inch sheet from the top feed.
The printer refused to print with an error message that "the print might eject halfway through. Change print quality to Draft"
If offered no option other than "Cancel". Anyone else seen this? Any way around it?
Image quality aside, the best part about the inks is loading them. I love how it auto-detects the bottles, sucks in the ink and shuts off when the tanks are full, leaving a little bit in the bottle. And the can't-miss bottle keying prevents mis-fuelling, something I did once on my 9800.
My...
