Hi all. This Brother model may have a different number outside New Zealand. Is there a generic thread about refilling toner cartridges on a similar model?
Thanks.
BTW: I'm getting the 'WT BOX FULL SOON' message but I haven't printed more than a few thousand sheets.
Yes. Isn't that necessary before a printer will operate?
BTW: Congratulations for being the first of 206 viewers to reply to my post. Just as well I managed to solve it myself.
Sorry if this question has already been asked but here goes:
My MG7760 ran out of all ink 8 or 9 months ago when I bought a color laser, but it's been functioning ok as a scanner.
However, it threw a hissy fit yesterday when I accidentally hit the 'print' button and took me some time to reset...
Thanks, PeterBJ. Rollers at the rear - that's what I needed to know.
I guess it varies a lot between Laser and Inkjet printers. My Brother HL-2130 has a quite elaborate pickup mechanism mounted on the front of the cassette.
I ask because I occasionally re-use paper that's dogeared or has been stapled or folded, and I'd like to make sure I'm inserting the paper so the clean end is gripped by the pickup apparatus.
I guess the location might vary between models? My Canons are MX726 and MG7760.
Thanks.
(and best wishes...
Thanks, guys. I think you've answered my questions.
Re the humidity here in the lower South Island of New Zealand, it's generally in the 50's. Right now, as I type this (in early Spring), it's 54 in the house, 51 outside.
I've seen it as high as 70 but that's not common. But more to the point...
After years of using a printer bank comprised of several Canon inkjet MFC's plus a single Brother mono laser, I'm considering replacing the whole lot with a single Brother MFC Color Laser.
I'm thinking that the new Brother (or other brand, haven't decided yet) will only come with starter carts...
Experimental Scrabble score sheet: Thought I'd see how it looked and the printout is as you see.
Is the printer EOL or is there some adjustment I can make?
Until this discussion moved in to the area of dye versus pigment inks, I hadn't fully appreciated the choice I made years back to do 99% of my black printing with various Brother mono lasers.
So I've never had the problem of ink being affected by rain water or spills.
The only downside with...
Yes, you're right. Quite pointless.
And it's now occurred to me that, because I always replace a new Canon printer's original carts with compatibles (after the originals empty, of course), that the original large black must have contained pigment ink.
Thanks Peter. Then I'll just use it to replace the large black when it goes belly-up. According to the supplier, both the Hi Capacity and Large Capacity share the same ink.
Cheers :clap
Thanks for the ongoing comments, guys.
I have a much better understanding of the situation now, but perhaps you wouldn't mind checking my logic.
1) It appears that my MX726 has always been loaded with dye-based, compatible, small and large black carts. Except for when it was brand new, when I...
So, what is the actual difference between DYE and PIGMENT inks?
Sorry (Admin, long-suffering, long-time members) - I'm sure this question has been asked before, but this dye\pigment distinction is new to me. Why should I care about the difference between the two types?
Heads-Up:
Just tried PeterBJ's dye\pigment test.
From my MX726, both Large and Small black carts' q-tip dots don't wash off or even smear on photo paper.
Which would seem to indicate that both are dye-based?
Actually, when I look at the supplier's site again, the single mention of the word...
