I have printed the B. Atkinson image and what I see is better shadow details in the print which is preconditioned. The neutral rendering curve is different in ColorThink as well, but to be honest, what to make of that I am not sure.
I think, I see magenta tint in very deep shadows which is not...
I have managed to alter the CAP480.txt file in order to pre-condition it.
It worked and I have now new set of .ti1, .ti2 and a .tif file to print and compare the profiles from original CAP480 and the pre-conditioned one.
--------------------------
I got it now.:) Thanks @The Hat . I am on the slow side.. I guess.
I doubt, The differences between the CM and the Argyll profiles will be visible on the web, considering my old, cheap scanner.
Comparing them on the web might lead you to a wrong conclusion.
The main difference, obvious one is...
Yes Ian, I am in this mode.
Results as a results are not great. I love photography, but it is a hobby for me, which is not bad as I do it for fun.
Attending competitions here and there with moderate success, but plenty of room to improve...I hope..:)
I am not sure if that is what you wanted to...
You probably red this article: http://www.ludd.ltu.se/~torger/photography/argyll-print.html
He put it very simple, but we will see how it goes...
I think the best bet is to modify .txt files we already have. I need to gain some experience with this Command line. :)
I printed couple of pictures. One of them is the Bill Atkinson test file.
The ArgyllCMS profile is warmer than the Munki one and match the screen better.
I thought I will have better shadows, but I was disappointed. Below 10 nothing is visible on both prints - the one printed with Munki profile...
So....First profile is done:
While creating it this warning appeared: Warning: Gamut mapping is non monotonic - may be not very smooth
Profile check, after was created:
peak error =2.70
avr error = 0.60
RMS = 0.76

I will print some evaluation images...
Thanks Ian,
Can you post a link to this video please?
Yes, I am afraid, I will create a profile with too many reading errors, so wanted to stay on the safe side - bigger patches...
--------------------
Thanks for the link. :)
Thanks in advance
Pete
Thanks,
I want bigger patches, that is the only reason. I have no proper ruler at the moment to read the printed CAP480 targets. Patches are 9mm, but that is still too small for me.
I would like to change the .bat file in order to print these 480 patches onto 2 A4 sheets.
Bigger patches is...
Hello Ian,
Sorry for the late reply,
Yes, I love my Epson 4880. It is easy to find original Epson carts very cheap, so I can not see the point of using a re-fill. I still have couple of full sets.:)
I printed the 480 patches .tif on a A4, but I would like to spread them equally on a 2 A4...
Thanks Emulator,
I bought Eizo CS230 bundled with i1 Display Pro before couple of months and its Color Navigator with the i1 Display Pro gives average DeltaE < 1. I wanted to send back the i1 Display Pro for a refund, as I thought I will use the CM instead, but when I saw the CM result with...
Thanks Emulator,
Yes, I have the driver installed and shows in Device manager: Argyll LibUSB-win32 devices.
I even managed to generate and print the 480 patch target via Qimage. I left it for overnight to dry completely.
So, I need to make the ruler now and then read the patches. I hope to not...
There was no original driver installation as i already have a driver for CM - the x-rite driver. I needed only to update the driver(manually), following the argyll installation manual, which I did, but can not find the driver in the "usb" folder, in order to update it.
Yes, I work within the...
Thanks,
I have x-rite Munki already installed and in Device Manager, when I plug the munki hardware I see: X-Rite devices/colormunki.
What I did is to right click on the munki and then ask to update the driver. I manually browse to the usb folder and then the path is this: C...
Hello,
I found time this late afternoon to install the Argyll CMS and proceed with target creation, but I hit a snag in the very beginning.
So.. I unzipped the exe folder in the C drive and then created the path. I moved to the next step, which is updating the driver for colormunki.
I tried to...
Hello all,
First of all to say thank you for the time spent to share your experience, especially to Emulator.
I am exited to try Argyll CMS, but I am still trying to digest and collect all important data.
I can not find/download the files from post 2. Is it possible to have another link or...
