Hi Lev
A lot of good posts and discussions in this thread.
Here is a link to some mini-tutorials on color management and printing that I have found to be excellent.
I thought it was worth sharing to cover the most important color management topics.

Hi Lev
I suggest trying a different rendering intent than absolute colorimetric. Known to cause issues going from larger gamut to smaller gamut

Hi Lev
I am not familiar with you particular Epson printer. I have the Epson SC P900
There are two important settings that may be influencing your result.
1) You need to set an Paper ICC profile which maps your editing color space color numbers into the color numbers of the printer profile...
Hi Mark
Quite a while ago, I was making a similar decision, so I can share my experience (though dated).
I need a home/office printer of about the same volume of paper as you, and I wanted to be able to print images as well.
I learned the hard way that focusing first on the printer's reliability...
Hi @sorbiegunner
It is hard to know about your specific issue, yet here are some general thoughts.
- those are pretty tight margins, so using larger margins will help when the variability has been minimized
- The guide bars for the paper should touch the paper yet not be snug. You don't want...
Hi @TheEd
Do you need to know which printer model it came from or something more specific then that such as including revisions etc.
If you need to know which printer it came from, that is easier and here is what I would do.
1) List out the printer models that you have had over time.
2) Search...
You’re welcome @Epatcola
The printer used was the same as in my profile and forgot to include it in the text. I used my Epson SC P 900 printer with Epson Glossy paper and Epson OEM inks. Printed from a MacBook Pro 2001 M1. Firmware and printer driver were up to date. I may redo part of the...
Hi @Epatcola
You are asking good questions. Since I have recently done resolution tests on several papers, I thought your questions would be worth running an experiment to see if there were any resolution differences when using the same paper, the same ICC profile, and only changing the media...
Hi @Epatcola
I have yet to dig into the details of the differences in settings for those different paper types.
I am unsurprised that it does not change the gamut/profile for photo papers since the tests are done on relatively big test squares.
I expect differences to be in other areas, such...
Hi @Epatcola
I had to go through the same thing with my Epson P900 recently. Here is the link to look up the setting to use for different Epson paper types. As well as a cut and paste of the table:
Epson Settings for different Epson papers
The only issue is that these are for Epson papers...
Hi @Fujisan
Here is what comes up for the error code.
"
Code: E015-0000
Description:Error in Developing Disengagement Motor
Causes:The engine detected an error in the Developing Disengagement Motor.
Remedy:1. Check the harnesses/connectors connecting the Developing Disengagement Switch, the...
Hi @hifivoice
Sorry, I am late to the game here.
No, what you see is not normal in "normal" mode printing for the banding lines or the text offset issues.
Since you are printing A4 paper and the 8550 could print A4 paper inserted into the printer in portrait mode (short side going in first) or...
Hi Alan
I did not see a response on your computer type, so I looked up your past posts and indicated you had an Apple computer. So here is how you do it.
1) Open the Preview App and load the original PDF file
2) Go to export and leave it in PDF format, yet choose Black and White in the...
HI Alan
I don't know how to do that from the printer driver - only on grayscale.
However, If you happen to be on a Mac, there is an easy workaround using their built-in "Preview" app. What type of computer do you have, and do you have any other image editing software?

Hi @SML215
I am new here, too. I have attached the image from Canon's code errors for this printer, which is not too helpful. If you have not done the unplug trick, that is worth trying.
Note that it is reported that some have left their printer unplugged for 24 hours and have it work again...
Hi, John Wheeler here.
What printers do you currently have (manufacturers / models):
Epson SC P900
What printers have you owned in the past:
My first Photo printer was the 1999 HP Photosmart P1100. I was thrilled to be able to print at home, as I never wanted to mess with a wet photo print...
