Hi,
I learned from Beetlenut to use a pushpin to make the hole for the needle for the german refill method.
I pushed to make the hole then as I withdrew the pushpin, rotate it in circles so that the opening is a bit bigger, but the inside of the hole fits snugly over the needle. This worked well.
P.S.
On the issue of making a hole for purging (when needed), when one has been using the German Method,
I was wondering if it made more sense to make the purge hole over the sponge chamger,
instead of over the ink reservoir....
perhaps at the "Hole to nowhere?"
Any ideas whether this would...
Hello,
Beetlenut shared that he used a pushpin to make the hole to inject the ink.
I have used his method and think it works great.
Just push the pushpin to make the hole, then as you withdraw it, rotate it in a circular motion to expand the size of the hole at the point of entry. This allows...
Needle I Used:
3.5" (90 mm) sharp tip needle from http://www.inkjetsaver.com/tools.html @ $1.00 (can buy any number you want, and they have blunt as well)
It does not need to be this long if you have another source;
looks like it needs to be at least 50mm to reach through sponge chamber and...
Trigger 37,
Your post was beyond me, but I wanted to say thanks for sharing this.
Where have you found manuals to disassemble the printers?
Thanks again!
pharmacist,
Now I know what you mean. I have Hobbicolors refill kit with these plugs, but have not done a refill yet.
Did you use the metal pin (or pushpin, as Beetlenut suggested) to make the hole for the silicon plug as well (as the hole for refilling via the german method) --- or did you...
pharmacist,
Thanks so much... your direct link to the English version at druckerchannel certainly surpasses the link I posted to have Google (poorly) translate from German to English... Much better translation!
I was also thinking that I would use the German method to refill, and then if the...
Beetlenut,
I think I am going to try this method when my 1st round OEM cartridges run out.
Did you refill the first time as soon as the first "ink low" message appeared for each cart?
I very much like the push-pin tip on making the hole in the cartridge.... seems like a great idea.
Thanks!
Some other good practice questions:
* Need to remove cartridges to check ink levels? (I assume so)
* Does printhead alignment need to be done whenever cartridges are removed? (I assume so)
* Do you run Print head cleaning after refilling? (manual says this was...
Beetlenut,
Thanks for your reply.
Good to know that the blunt needle works (that's what I have on hand).
The "German Method" of refilling does seem to have many advantages and seems attractive.
The only possible drawback may be that if the cartridges do ever need to be purged, there is no...
Beetlenut,
So you had no problem pushing a blunt tip needle through? (Defcon2k had used a sharp tip needle)
Did you have any trouble finding the hole in the reservoir wall as the needle inserted, or does it just go straight in (if you follow a straight line)?
Thanks for your report.
Has...
Defcon2k was kind enough to put some videos on youtube of the
refilling:

Thank you, smile.
So, if you don't mind my asking, do you keep your printer on all day, once it gets turned on, or do you turn it off and on as needed?
Thanks for your replies...
My printer is a ip4300.
Does anyone have a sense whether turning it ON and OFF throughout the day, when not using it has any negative impact on it?
((It seems to do some kind of processing when it is turned either ON or OFF).
Hi everyone,
This is a basic question, but given that there seems to be a variety of tips out there, it might be of use to many.
The question is what folks would recommend for good inkjet usage tips in order to PREVENT problems.
Some examples I have heard:
-- run a nozzle test every day...
Hi Everyone,
If you have an HP 1100 D Inkjet printer, I have leftover refill ink (MIS - 4 pint bottles), as well as parts from my printer which I am going to toss out.
Trays, original printheads...
Would much rather that someone use it than it end up in a landfill.
