I'm looking for advice on printing on this kind of vinyl inkjet paper. I am looking to make custom decals for my kids' bikes using my current setup: Epson 1430 using precision colors dye inks. I realize switching to pigment inks would give the best results, but I was wondering if there is an...
Interesting that you think it will make a mess - I found that someone is selling this very idea https://www.inkproducts.com/ink-store441/product.php?productid=709&cat=269&page=1
After my issues with my 1430 I'm wondering if one possible contributing factor is how often the refillable cartridges are removed and put back in. Not only when they are empty, but often after exchanging one another will show as not recognized - apparently due to the master-slave configuration...
Ok, so I got it working, but I'm not really sure what exactly worked. This technology is really opaque to me.
1) I did a flush with a syringe and tubing only on light magenta (other carts still in place) - first sucking up whatever was in the print head and getting rid of it, then pushing...
Thank you both for the advice. Here's a brief update:
1) I had already primed the cartridges - no issue sucking ink out. I then replaced with new identical cartridges, and this did not help. Doesn't seem to be the carts at all.
2) I decided to let the printer sit for 24 hours with the fill plug...
So after reading what I could find I decided to try to force some ink through the print head by applying air pressure to the cartridge vent. this did work partially, but I still have air moving around causing shifting missing lines on the nozzle check. Is there another way to get air out of the...
Carts are full, reservoirs have ink, but I re-primed them just in case, and yes, the vent plugs are off. I've been using them for two years with only sporadic clogging that cleaning cycles usually were able to solve fairly easily.
Should I move on to a flush?
I'm using refillable carts with precision colors inks. I hadn't printed in about 2 weeks which is usually fine, I printed a full page photo that came out ok. The next morning I tried to print and got problems. The nozzle check showed almost no lines of Light Magenta or Cyan. Checked that carts...
Here's a quick update for those who might be interested.
I now have the printer hooked up to an Asus RT-AC68U router USB port (running merlin firmware) and using the ASUS EZ printer sharing application it works very well thus far over wifi. I'm even using a 1.5M cable.
Printer over USB worked fine. I'm not sure what to try next in terms of getting the wireless working. I could try to hook up via USB to my Asus router and use the Asus printer utility to set it up as a network printer. In that case I would need a 2.5-3 meter cable, which is not ideal in terms of...
It's definitely a networking problem of some sort, but a very strange one. I have put the 2.4 ghz network on the clearest channel available and the printer and router are about 2.5M apart. What is strange is that there is no issue initially connecting to the printer, only after about 60mb of...
I don't often print larger than letter size, but the last time I printed a full 11x14 it printed flawlessly. However, recently I tried to print a photo with roughly similar resolution cropped to 14x10 borderless on 14x11 paper. Each attempt the printer gets some way through and then hangs. The...
How is a reporting one's experience with a product and saying that one is annoyed that its description is misleading a "rant" and not civilized? I don't think that everyone knows that dye inks do not last so no one takes these descriptions seriously, and by the way, just go with pigment-based...
Mike,
First, I'm sorry that you were personally insulted by my remarks regarding how the EV6 inks are described. Again, I apologize that you took it that way as that was not my intent. Edited...
However, to be clear, my intent was to critique how the inkset it described on your website, and in...
Thanks for your reply, I have been following your tests for a while now
So if I understand your tests, basically the PC EV6 is in the lowest category due to the black fading. Does it make sense to use up the rest of the EV6 I have but substitute a better black like this...
Here's a good example. PC inks on Epson ultra premium luster. It was kept in a living room that gets a lot of sun about 2 hours/day. The glass of the frame had been broken and you can see how the edges remain dark.
Since I didn't mention it before. I should add that I am somewhat galled that PC...
Hi all, I usually just lurk and have learned a lot from reading the forum. I thought I'd share my own observations after a year which basically confirm what many of the veteran experts have noted.
I switched to a set of refillable carts after my original oem set ran out, obviously due to cost...
I reread those threads and unfortunately did not find the answers.
1) Has anyone figured out if the Epson L800 are the same as Claria inks and if not, has someone generated profiles for them?
2) Are the precision colors inks worth using, in other words, is real word performance acceptable?
3)...
First I have been reading this forum off and on for a while and really appreciate the effort some of you have been putting in to this.
I bought a 1430 a year ago and have thus far been using oem inks with good results. However, knowing that I would be moving to a country where access to such...
